Related, A friend was making incredible money as a travel nurse. He’d go work at a hospital for 6mo, earn a year’s salary, then travel for a year. Every hospital was massively understaffed.
Best hypothesis I could come up with is that if a hospital wanted to raise wages to hire an additional nurse, they’d have to raise wages for all nurses, so the marginal cost of an additional full-time worker was astronomical and hiring travel nurses at 2x the price was basically price discrimination.

I was curious about Eric Swalwell's alleged seduction technique of sending unsolicited dick pics to women he was trying to hit on. Gay guys send each other dick pics quite often (I am reliably informed). But what are the chances a heterosexual man sending an unsolicited dick pic to a woman is likely to elicit a positive response?

This could be the first time that it’s different! I’m a techno-optimist, but I readily concede new circumstances are different than old ones.
But also, technological advancement as a category has been an unmitigated good for the last ~30,000 years, so the techno-pessimists need to at least explain how it’s different this time.
