@willjust_ @DustinWalper Focused area heating for controlled tempering to ideal specs. There are many options honestly, even gets down to how you order the assembly process. What's manageable for task and tools given. What can be done by hand to what only machines can do relatively speaking

Fit-up of bent or warped material is one of the most challenging aspects of autonomous shipbuilding. This lil’ snippet from an upcoming video shows how we’re solving that problem. The future of shipbuilding will look very different from the past.

@MatthewChang @DustinWalper you do it post-welding (if it is important) since welding creates so much stress. its called PWHT or post-weld heat treat. it's also important to help the hydrogen diffuse out of the metal, and hydrogen creates cracks.

@DustinWalper Do you want to remove the stress first, or doesn’t matter because it all gets welded into a structural assembly?

@willjust_ @bscholl lol bro it ends with .gov it’s an official site. They are selling green cards for huge money to businesses. Which is why they’re hitting individuals on this side. Basically if Big Tech thinks these guys are worth Billions then pay a million if you want them.

I understand why we don’t want people to come to the US to be criminals, mooch on welfare, open learing centers and otherwise undermine the country. But I don’t understand why we make it harder for motivated, ambitious, hardworking people to come to the land of opportunity.
Homeland Security@DHSgov

An alien who is in the U.S. temporarily and wants a Green Card must return to their home country to apply. This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes. The era of abusing our nation’s immigration system is over.

@willjust_ @bscholl The link is right there look it up and read about it. It explains. Also, I’m surprised you haven’t heard of this. Trump‘s been talking about this since his last administration.

@MrSaneApps @bscholl so the US should kick people like elon musk and jensen huang out? We should encourage smart, ambitious people to come here and build.

The biggest bullshit move by DHS in its history. So everyone on a O1 or H1B visa would have to stop working legally in the US, go back to their country and wait for years of backlog? This includes top scientists in our universities, founders of billion dollar companies (at least 3 just in our portfolio would be affected by the way). And if we look at individual countries it becomes even more bs. Indians would have to wait decades. Russians don’t have anywhere to go (there is no US embassy in Russia, hello?). This is the worst imaginable way to disrupt important work for the country and pretend you’re fighting some loophole.

@BobFromAccounts I was taught that the horn is used to warn other road users of your approach where not to do so could result in a collision, such as when approaching a blind bend on a narrow road. There could be a group of cyclists or pedestrians in the road.

@CooperZurad can confirm - there has never been a spring used in space. Every video you see is simply using them to distract you from the true mechanism.

one of the most counterintuitive things about space is that springs don't work there so you have to come up with different solutions

I know you’re supposed to put nice pictures on here. This is the real world, and this is what testing really looks like. Thermal vacuum testing is a mess of wires, bulkheads, temperature sensors, and loads. This is the real magic of space.

The urban core generates almost all of a typical U.S. city's tax revenue but most of it goes to fund roads, sewer lines, power lines et al in suburbs. If suburbs paid for themselves, rather than leaching off the city, I think a lot more people would be live and let live on this.

@Euthenos_ Rural people and suburbanites do not care one bit abt how city people choose to live. You do you. Urban collectivists make it their life’s mission to ensure everyone lives exactly like they do.

All those motorists convinced that they can cross a cyclists path whenever they choose to and the bike has to just stop; I’m dying to know how you would turn left from the right lane at this often busy road near Cambridge station. Do you get to ignore the car lane too?
