@jedirich_ The reason Vegas is dead is the gouging of tourists with exorbitant prices, poor service, etc. it’s not due to construction. The strip casinos need to pivot to get tourism back. It’s not field of dreams where if you build it they will come. How did that work out for housing?

Everyone keeps asking if Vegas is “dead”… Meanwhile, this is going up right now. A brand new stadium rising out of the dirt — cranes everywhere, steel going vertical, money pouring in. Not talk. Not hype. Actual construction. And here’s what people miss: Vegas doesn’t build for today’s crowd. Vegas builds for the crowd that’s coming. The same people saying “it feels slower” are looking at surface-level traffic… But underneath? Billions are being deployed. New stadium. New resorts. Massive Strip renovations. Entire sections of the city getting reworked in real time. That doesn’t happen in a dying city. It happens in a city repositioning. Short term: Yeah — fewer bodies, less chaos, not every corner packed. Long term: Higher spend. Bigger events. More premium everything. You don’t build a stadium like this for budget tourists. You build it for what Vegas is turning into. So while people argue in the comments about $20 drinks and “it’s not the same”… Vegas is quietly reloading. What you’re seeing right now isn’t decline — It’s a reset. Give it 12–24 months and people will pretend they always saw it coming.

@JakeWilding1 @JonAguiar I’m not sure either, but if it’s winner take all except 300th there may be a +ev model to punt. Also certain circumstances for exceptionally flat pay scale like 200 payouts. While outlier scenarios I think structure must be defined to get % of punt attempts. May be 0 most scenari

@lanabeesfw I think it’s fine, but I think that the intimacy and connection to someone you love in the future may be reduced because the act of sex has become less special and doesn’t create the same intimacy anymore. Just my opinion, for both sexes. But live how you want to.

Two of the main responses to this today have been full on nazis and guys saying “so you can fuck a lot of men but im not allowed to rape?????” and yet none of that changes that its actually completely fine to have lots of safe consensual sex with as many people as you want 💕
Lana the Bug 🪲💕@lanabeesfw

Having sex with lots of people is completely fine as long as youre safe about STDs/STIs and everyone is consenting. Nothing bad happens to your soul, it doesnt change your body, it doesnt ruin or soil you like religious propaganda wants you to believe.

@190428twenty @BenjiBacker Yes. I’m aware of that sell point. 100 million to prevent a small isolated group of mountain lions from inbreeding. To me that doesn’t equate to smart money management. I find most of the arguments in the “for category” for this ludicrous for that reason.

While we're discussing wildlife overpasses, let's discuss why they're important: They prevent ~97% of wildlife collisions They singlehandedly save wildlife populations (and migration patterns) They can save our country $10B per year BUT...they (should) cost $5-15M, not $100M

@MONIPLAYS @lanabeesfw Never said sex wasn’t normal or stigmatized it. To each their own. Encouraging someone to look into predictive outcomes through case studies is a scientific and unbiased approach. I’m sorry if that doesn’t align with your views or hurts your feelings.

@MONIPLAYS @uranoutofluck @lanabeesfw Well a personal attack sets the tone. Well done. I was never gender specific. What I stated is true for both sexes. Lots of different metrics have been measured that less sexual partners predict higher success rates for long term relationships. That’s all. Why the anger?

@wrongyetagain @libsoftiktok No, the right is to "keep and bear." Part of bearing is carrying. Purchasing is part of the right only because without it you couldn't effectively exercise the right as an individual.

@mmpiatkowski Restrictive doesn’t mean not accepting. They vetted incoming immigrants to make sure they aligned with cultural norms and denied mostly Muslim asylum seekers. Also other countries in Europe are absorbing those numbers over 1-2 year spans not a decade.

The opposite, actually. Poland 🇵🇱 has absorbed 2.5 million immigrants, more than 6% of total population, over the past decade plus👇. This includes around a million of Ukrainian 🇺🇦 refugees who came after Russia’s aggression. More than 70% of the refugees are employed and have contributed between 0.7 to 1.3 percentage points to Poland’s GDP growth in 2023 alone. They also had a significant contribution to the Polish budget forbes.com/sites/lidiakur…

@micyoung75 Just so you know in 2021 California stopped issuing new licenses for hospices citing widespread fraud. The number of 1/3 of all US hospice care is in CA also just doesn’t make sense. There are giant red flags and no proper investigation has been done. Also no huge intervention.

Nick Shirley’s Minnesota video claimed to expose $110 million in daycare fraud. His claims remained unsubstantiated. State inspectors found the centers operating normally. Many had already been audited. The downstream consequences were not unsubstantiated. Ten billion dollars in child care funding frozen across five states. Two thousand federal agents deployed to Minnesota. An immigration crackdown that killed two US citizens. Now the same playbook opens in California, this time aimed at hospice funding. The $170 million figure is his own. No verified independent sourcing yet. The Minnesota record tells you exactly what questions to ask before the freeze orders and the crackdowns follow the clicks.
Nick shirley@nickshirleyy

🚨 Here is the full 40 minutes of my crew and I exposing California fraud, Minnesota was big but California is even bigger... We uncovered over $170,000,000 in fraud as these fraudsters live in luxury with no consequences. Like it and share it, the fraud must STOP. We ALL work way too hard and pay too much in taxes for this to be happening. These fraudsters have been able to defraud American taxpayers for years without any pushback from the public and politicians. It is time to EXPOSE IT ALL and end America's fraud crisis.

@Anpanator @AgroNationalism So you think 52 accidents including medical and follow up costs over a 100 year period justify a 100 million dollar expenditure? Call it 100 accidents. A million dollars per… that assumes the crossing prevents 100% of accidents in the region. I don’t think that is correct

To be clear the wildlife bridge is a good idea. It's a no-brainer money saver. Either pay for the bridge or externalize the cost onto a bunch of different people's cars and lives over time. That's not to mention the loss of the animals lives. Don't let rampant corruption and weaponized incompetentence trick you into thinking good ideas are bad.

@Andy_Bloch @libsoftiktok 3) you were talking about ID to use or carry a firearm. I was saying use is not what the provision in the constitution guarantees. It is referring to ownership, which actually has provisions for not all people as felons are exempted like voting rights.

@Anpanator @AgroNationalism Ok by that math 4x those numbers from the last 24years. It doesn’t come close to justifying the cost assuming 100% of those accidents are prevented. Good news is 60 mill is coming from private donations

@wrongyetagain @AgroNationalism Such bridges last somewhere around 70 to 100 years generally. Since they don't have traffic going over them either, maintenance costs are also fairly low (and are considered in the paper).

@Stapes @mynamehear A general increase in all sales taxes 100% is disadvantageous to the poor as they have to spend almost 100% of their earning on essential goods to survive while those with more wealth have an ability to save causing growing gap in inequality.

@Stapes @mynamehear Again you may be right, but exemptions like that have never been part of the conversation. It’s always been in reference to sales taxes on all goods. I don’t think there has ever been a study that excludes essential goods in conjunction with elimination of all other taxes.

@wrongyetagain @AgroNationalism trid.trb.org/View/2122530 here's one example. It's region dependent of course, but the paper works with threshold values where it becomes economically viable (measured in accidents / km of road). So all you have to do is look up those statistics for any given area and calculate.
