I hope I never lose the sense of wonder of watching a winter sunrise. Everything seems to happen much more gently and quietly than in summer. The light creeps into the sky with the softest pastel colours, the growing warmth very slowly burns off the mists in the valley, and the fields echo with nothing more than birdsong, distant sheep and the sound of your footsteps. You always leave with your heart feeling a little bit lighter than when you arrived. 📍 Peak District, England

🚨 BREAKING: Defra backs ban on live boiling of lobsters & crabs! 🦞🦀 We're delighted that today’s Animal Welfare Strategy confirms that live boiling of conscious crustaceans “is not an acceptable killing method.” This is a huge win for animal welfare and a significant step forward for lobsters and crabs! Crustacean Compassion CEO, Dr Ben Sturgeon, says: “We wholeheartedly welcome the Government’s intentions to ban the live boiling of conscious crustaceans. When live, conscious animals are placed into boiling water, they endure several minutes of excruciating pain. This is torture and completely avoidable. Humane alternatives, like electrical stunning, are readily available and ensure these animals are killed swiftly and without unnecessary suffering.”

@HorrorHammer1 All good films, but honestly, I think the Wicker Man is in a league of its own. Genuinely one of the best films ever made.

🚨 Three years ago, decapod crustaceans (including crabs, lobsters, prawns & nephrops) were recognised in UK law as sentient beings – capable of experiencing pain, stress, and suffering. ❌ Yet, shockingly, they are still excluded from the Animal Welfare Act 2006. This means there is currently no duty of care to protect them - leaving thousands of animals vulnerable every year. 📢 Together with 12 other animal protection organisations, we’ve written an open letter to Baroness Sue Hayman, DEFRA Minister for Animal Welfare, urging the government to take the vital next step: 👉 include decapods in the Animal Welfare Act. It's time to ensure the law reflects the science - and that these animals finally receive the protection they deserve. 🦀🦞 #AnimalWelfare #CrustaceanCompassion @BornFreeFDN @AnimalAid @peta @PETAUK @CIWF_Globa @ReplAnimalRes @onekindtweet @humaneworldorg @apawild @Naturewatch_org @ConservativeAWF

The life of Saint Augustine, and his call to servant leadership, reminds us that we all have God given gifts and talents. Our purpose, fulfilment, and joy comes from offering them back in loving service to God and our neighbor.

🦐 Did you know that some shrimp have migration patterns and breeding seasons, just like birds? New research into the Jinga shrimp (Metapenaeus affinis) has revealed just how intricate their lives really are. Each year, they journey through Iraq’s coastal waters, growing, maturing, and spawning in harmony with the changing seasons. Their movements follow ancient patterns, guided by subtle environmental cues, patterns now increasingly disrupted by human activity. These tiny creatures are not just part of the marine food chain; they are part of a fragile and beautiful natural rhythm. In protecting them, we protect something far greater: the balance and wonder of ocean life itself. #FunFactFriday #CrustaceanCompassion

This is St. Anne's Church in Vilnius, Lithuania. It's over 500 years old and the perfect example of a strange architectural style known as "Brick Gothic". But, more importantly, it's a lesson in how imagination can transform the way our world looks...
