The "my PC outperforms the Steam Machine" living room:




I love Steam, but $1,349 is getting into “build a really nice gaming PC” territory. The Steam Machine has to offer something special beyond convenience. Am I missing something here?







I am genuinely conflicted with buying the Steam Machine. At $1050, it's quite literally a giant waste of money. I have better PCs laying around my house. I'm only getting it to review it and the only thing that will accomplish is just re-iterating that it's not worth it all.

"why doesn't Valve just subsidize the Steam machine" because in their position, that's a direct violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Using the profits from their monopoly position in one sector to vertically integrate or expand into other business lines is illegal
