Actress Valerie Perrine has passed away at age 82 after a battle with Parkinson's disease. Her memorable film roles included a porn actress abducted by aliens in Slaughterhouse-Five, Lex Luthor’s secretary in two Superman films and an Oscar-nominated performance as the wife of Lenny Bruce in Lenny. 🍃🥀🍂 #ValeriePerrine #Part2

@john_macgowan Go look up employee reviews of the ABC on Seek. Fascinatingly consistent complaints across years of how bad ABC management is. All accurate from my experience.

Their podcast, with 400k viewers a month, barely goes for 30 minutes. I outlay $300 a month on Stream of Consciousness which goes for 2-3 hours a week and has 100k viewers a month. And it's not even available for download. I don't even really pay for the advertising because I make back in revenue sharing what I put in promo. That just leaves Streamyard (which I think the sub is expired on), and Vcam (so I can use the green screen without a watermark). These guys have an ABC studio AND free advertising. What the hell are they spending all the money on? This is why the legacy media is in so much strife.

Having worked as a video editor (not as a journalist) in serious current affairs, this is a great story about media authenticity. Very fair and balanced.

There HAS to be a photo kill statement incoming on this birdseye graveyard pic where I tracked the Ghost Author to being Morteza Akhondi @ morybndhaa on Instagram. It cannot stand in 2026 for this to be silently removed and accountability ignored. It is not fair on the Iranian people who are screaming to not trust this regime. The photo was in hundreds of articles (even @snopes has stood by it)... I know, I'm compiling a list as redactions/apologies should also be done: @politico @washingtonpost @NBCNews and so many more. Crikey, this is like living in a bizarro alternative reality at the moment ay. @AP @apnews oi and where you at @GettyImages so many of your Minab photos have sketchy as fuck metadata in them!? Like, super sketchy m8. I need help putting pressure on these institutions. It honestly doesn't matter where you stand on the political spectrum, I don't give a fark, or your over-arching opinion on the conflict, falsified and manipulated imagery being endorsed from those at the highest levels of news and information on the globe CANNOT be tolerated. #IranWar #politics #disinformation #misinformation #minab

I am old enough to remember when comic book superheroes came to television: there was always the complaint that the networks wouldn’t let them fight supervillains or display their true powers in order to keep them grounded and avoid making them too “comic-booky.” Then Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man arrived, and I thought those days were long gone. But with Wonder Man, Lanterns, and others pulling back from the source material, it seems we’ve come full circle.

I just realized the war has been going for 5 days and I haven't seen a single cut away / cross section diagram of an Iranian underground facility in a major publication. What are we doing here guys? It's not a real war if you don't have a cross section of an underground base.

@PulpLibrarian I was such a Synclavier fanboi in the 80's - not that I could even afford to look at one living in rural flyover country. Wonder what the relation to the Fairlight CMI is to the Fairlight software in DaVinci Resolve?

The Equalizer (1985-89). Stewart Copeland used a Fairlight CMI Series II for the theme music: an expensive piece of kit for the time with 32 kHz sampling. A number of musicians preferred the (arguably more capable) Synclavier II, but the Fairlight II did had a unique sound and its Page R sequencer was easy to use. You know it when you hear it! In 1988 Copeland released The Equalizer & Other Cliff Hangers, an album of some of his instrumental scores for TV. I think it's on Spotify if you want to check it out.

They managed to edit out other stuff. I'm not saying there is no satisfactory explanation - but no explanation at all has been given, while a man who put himself in their hands in good faith is being seriously and maliciously maligned and demonised globally. They say nothing. Bloody hell!

@ThatAussieWoman @PTNickB @RecruitBoss @Phil_Lewis_ @lmauricecpr I used to work as an editor on a nightly current affairs show, often with same day turnarounds. Anyone who thinks 2 hours is 'ample time' to avoid mistakes happening in a high pressure editing situation has never done this job. It's not just hitting a bleep button. Fucking hell!

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (key word BRITISH) was broadcast on the British Broadcasting Corporation (key word - again - BRITISH). During the ceremony, host Alan Cumming informed the audience that Davidson was present and explained that he has Tourette’s syndrome, which causes involuntary vocal tics. The notification advised audience members that they might hear strong language, movements, or noises during the event. The BBC had time to edit out the incident. It didn't, for reasons that to most people are unfathomable. The seasoned and professional performers onstage failed to respond to the Tourette tic they were warned about in a professional way. Davidson was monstered for something over which he has no control and for which those present were warned, and the BBC could have and should have edited out. Davidson was at the BAFTAs because his film, I Swear, was nominated for an award. It is the film of his life as a sufferer of Tourette's, most specifically of Coprolalia. In my humble opinion, those initially shocked and offended should have 'gone on with show' considering this is just the thing they had been warned about and pursued investigations and explanations after the event. It never had to reach such epic proportions nearly a whole week later. Anderson is still being monstered for his involuntary verbal tic by persons not even present at the time, onstage at an event attended by and broadcast to thousands. It has absolutely nothing to do with the White House. I worked all that out without having a PhD, and very quickly too. The state of Western education is lamentable.

If there is one thing I have learned it's that most people in any space, industry or institution are followers. I am not saying this in a disparaging way. Followers are extremely important. A world full of leaders would be a terrible world of endless conflict and strife. If you want to get anything done, you need a handful of leaders and a mass of dedicated, supportive followers. BUT. The influencer/podcast/commentator world is full of people who are followers pretending to be leaders. If you're naive like me, it takes you a long time to understand this so you keep being surprised when they refuse to act with moral clarity at times when leadership is desperately needed. The other reason is, most people are unfortunately motivated by status and materialism way more than truth, principle or something greater. If all you care about is clout, money, clicks, success etc then why would you ever speak up about anything until it's safe to do so? That's why you need a small number of people who are prepared to take the slings and arrows for being early in order to shift the direction of that industry, institution or society in a different direction. The reason we respect those people is they are rare. If they weren't rare, we wouldn't respect them so much.

@MarkDiStef Literally heard lawyers say something is defamatory many times at the ABC. Risk doesn't change fact whether or not it is defamatory. ALL advice from lawyers is just opinion, but you couldn't argue if lawyer insisted something had to be changed or cut.

Jesus fucking christ that’s not how this works. Lawyers pre publication don’t tell you “yes this is defamatory” or “no this isn’t”. They give you an opinion based on likely risk.

@kevinbonham No argument whether the betting odds are accurate for elections, just that using best betting odds to call ANYTHING a 'favourite' is literally what it means, eg 'Despite being the favourite, polls have them behind etc etc etc'

@JonathanSeque In horse racing. Elections, where betting normally plays such a minor role in discussions of who is likely to win (especially well out when the betting is thin and often wrong) are somewhat different.
