I had a productive meeting with Dr. Javid Abdelmoneim, International President of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and was briefed on MSF’s critical operations in the Gaza Strip, the Middle East, and worldwide. I commended MSF for its humanitarian medical missions conducted in the world's most dangerous and challenging environments. I also reaffirmed our government’s steadfast commitment to contributing to international efforts to resolve humanitarian crises across the globe.

In 2014, I visited eastern DRC, where @MSF teams were treating sleeping sickness - the only available drug was so toxic it killed 1 in 20 patients. In 2026 I'm so proud that, thanks to @DNDi, patients can be cured with a single dose of a groundbreaking new oral drug, acoziborole.

Yesterday's storming of @UNRWA's East Jerusalem compound by Israeli police & taking control - including by replacing the @UN flag with the Israeli one - creates a dangerous precedent.  Deliberately & blatantly disregarding obligations under the UN Charter and the Convention on Privileges & Immunities of the UN erodes international law.  This should be a wake-up call. What happens today to UNRWA can happen tomorrow to any other international organization or diplomatic mission, around the world. International law has come under increasing attack for too long. This must end.
