@NABurkinshaw @VintageMrHobbes I agree with this. I don’t like him, I disagree with him vehemently on many things, but I do think he’s always genuinely done what he believes to be right for everyone. Unlike others who’ve done what was right for them.

@VintageMrHobbes That's such a good point! It's a properly puritan response to poverty isn't it?! But I do still think he has a core of decency, even though I disagree with him on many things.

This is emblematic of why Brown was so terrible- rather than just buy a bunk bed and give it to the stranger, he takes his kids' bunk bed first, and makes them wait for him to buy a new one. He chooses the option with the same result but with maximum inconvenience to the innocent

@campbellclaret You are one of the people most directly responsible for this state of affairs. You are a loathsome human being who really ought to be in prison for treason for the damage you’ve done to this country.

One of the big problems with our politics is that we have a media, including and even especially in Westminster, that treats politics largely as a soap opera. Given this seems unlikely to change, I wonder if they couldn’t at some point turn to the episode about the man they seem desperate to make Prime Minister, electoral law breaking, Epstein file mentions not least of the billionaire helping to get him in loads of money from wherever they can find it, and his close connection with so many others in the files.

@MrsBootonski The one in our village is always warm, honestly! It's really cosy in there. Maybe it's just a "warm for the soul" thing but I always find it warm in there. Good radiators! 😊

In spite of being agnostic, I love churches. They're restful, calming, cool (in the summer), warm (in the winter), often architecturally inspiring and packed with history and secrets. Is there a place for Britain's first cake-scoffing, red panda obsessed agnostic vicar?

Keir, you’re a good man. A decent man. An Arsenal fan (always a good test of a man). When you did Life Stories, I found your remarkable journey to the top of British politics very inspiring. But this can’t go on. For the good of the country, resign. ⁦@Keir_Starmer

@1StevieKilner I also love churches, and cathedrals. We have the most beautiful one in our village. Built to be acoustically perfect for a church choir college. Question though… where are you finding these warm churches?! 😂

Damn mules... Twatty knickers here thinks all the lambs being born this morning are hers, despite not actually giving birth or doing any of the hard work. We're having to pen the ewes up for the second delivery so she doesn't steal the lambs!

From a man’s PERSPECTIVE, that moment feels different. You clock the joke, the room, the power dynamics. Boss nearby. Social penalty loaded. Speaking up doesn’t make you virtuous; it makes you isolated. So most men don’t choose approval. They choose invisibility. Not because they agree, but because they’ve learned what dissent costs. That silence isn’t a moral failure. It’s a system quietly training men when to disappear.

Out of ten men, one makes a sexual joke at a woman, two laugh, three fake a chuckle to fit in, and four stay silent. None of them speak up. Later, nine of them still believe they're the "good guys." But from the woman's perspective, the laughter, the silence, the looking away, it all creates the same environment. So when women say"most men are the same," this is what they mean: not that every man harasses women, but that most men help protect the system that does.

@iannewsman @VictoriaCoren Obviously he misunderstood the Parable of the Good Shepherd. You don't go off to pursue your lost sheep and when you find it, punch it in the face. I assume not, anyway.

Like many people, I was impressed and excited by the story of the bus driver who chased a mugger, punched him in the face, knocked him down and sat on him for half an hour waiting for the police. But I would say that this analysis, by Boris Johnson, is a bit of a stretch. #WWJD

@CarnismDebunked @Sassafrass_84 As a donkey owner, I’m afraid I must take issue with your use of the word ‘docile’ to describe donkeys. This is inaccurate. Whilst these particular donkeys may seem that way, it’ll be because they’ve been beaten into submission. It’s not the same. Also, 220lbs is still too much.

@Sassafrass_84 Donkeys should not be enslaved to pull people around regardless of weight. Santorini's donkey slavery enterprise is sick and cruel. These poor, docile animals are forced to carry people around in the heat all day and get sores, heat exhaustion, etc. BAN IT! ❌️🫏

Santorini has officially banned tourists over 220 lbs from riding donkeys to protect them from injury and cruelty. What are your thoughts on this? Americans have entered the chat. 🙊
