The key difference is not the presence of LDL — all mammals have it — but the levels. The physiologic LDLc in wild mammals, primates, neonates, and hunter-gatherer humans is typically 30–60 mg/dl, a range in which atherosclerosis does not occur. Modern humans, however, average almost double that (≈120–130 mg/dl), largely due to lifestyle and diet, which drives atherosclerosis. So the issue isn’t why LDL is harmful only in us, but rather that our LDLc levels are abnormally high compared to what is physiologically normal for mammals, including ourselves. That’s why lowering LDL back to the 50–70 mg/dl range restores the natural, non-atherogenic state
Dr. Özcan Yücel MD@drozcanyucel

@drpablocorral My dear colleague, you're making some very serious claims. All of these animals you see have LDL molecules circulating in their blood, just like ours. Have you ever wondered why this molecule is a problem only in us? Why? Why? Why? Why?

“both said it’s likely the plaque was laid down early in life and my diet changes have helped and slowed it down” This is an ad-hoc hypothesis, and unfalsifiable. Also, do we know that plaque volume is associated with/driven by ApoB-years? I know there are papers that show “risk” is, but how about actual measured plaque?

@sudas1891 @Only1MoreThing @exfatloss Ah, it’s pasteurized, and probably not as good as Rodda’s. It’s unpasteurized and made in the container, so has quite a unique texture and flavor.

@Mqsley @anabology I’m sure it could be done, but I didn’t have the time or patience for that. I have a PNOE if you want to borrow it for an experiment.

It's crazy how much used scientific hardware is on ebay, can find basically anything. Science is born from the junkyard and dies into the junkyard.

Look, you gotta understand my position. The CICO people are not sending their best. Most of those yelling CICO don't understand it, and when you point out their mistakes, they're too stupid to understand the correction. They don't know the terms, they don't know the data, they're not doing the math. They don't even really know what CICO means. So when I say only retards preach CICO, it's nothing personal, it's just what I'm seeing.

@exfatloss If you do the math, you can see that the numbers are totally wrong. 2 of 3 have about 46kcal if the other info is to be trusted…

@curtinity @dranthonygustin When I’ve run across issues in the past, I’ve raised it with Cronometer, but they say they are using 3rd party database, so I’m not exactly sure how to get the root cause changed.

Can you still get all your nutrients from food? A common belief is that our food supply is too depleted, and that hitting all your micros from food alone is nearly impossible. That can be true if you’re not tracking micros and not being intentional with your food selection. But if you do track and build your meals around nutrient density, it’s absolutely possible. Personally, I’ve been tracking my micronutrients and consistently hitting all targets from food alone, except for vitamin D (VDR polymorphism and low light Seattle) and B vitamins (MTRR polymorphism). My go to for magnesium is a daily handful of sprouted pumpkin seeds from Go Raw (available at Costco. No affiliation with either, but if @Costco wants to sponsor me, my DMs are open).
