Today it's five years since the launch of @TheRestHistory. After hundreds of episodes, tours of the US and Australia, West End shows and concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, making the show is more fun than ever. Thank you to our wonderful team, and to all our listeners!

Once you understand this, you can't unsee it. Agency > Intelligence. A simple concept that has huge implications. Kudos to @george__mack who saw it early and dove deep on it: highagency.com
Andrej Karpathy@karpathy

Agency > Intelligence I had this intuitively wrong for decades, I think due to a pervasive cultural veneration of intelligence, various entertainment/media, obsession with IQ etc. Agency is significantly more powerful and significantly more scarce. Are you hiring for agency? Are we educating for agency? Are you acting as if you had 10X agency? Grok explanation is ~close: “Agency, as a personality trait, refers to an individual's capacity to take initiative, make decisions, and exert control over their actions and environment. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive—someone with high agency doesn’t just let life happen to them; they shape it. Think of it as a blend of self-efficacy, determination, and a sense of ownership over one’s path. People with strong agency tend to set goals and pursue them with confidence, even in the face of obstacles. They’re the type to say, “I’ll figure it out,” and then actually do it. On the flip side, someone low in agency might feel more like a passenger in their own life, waiting for external forces—like luck, other people, or circumstances—to dictate what happens next. It’s not quite the same as assertiveness or ambition, though it can overlap. Agency is quieter, more internal—it’s the belief that you *can* act, paired with the will to follow through. Psychologists often tie it to concepts like locus of control: high-agency folks lean toward an internal locus, feeling they steer their fate, while low-agency folks might lean external, seeing life as something that happens *to* them.”

🧪 So cool @WHOOP now supports uploading your blood work biomarkers! It also offers a subscription to get your blood work done but only in US for now The cool thing is lets you upload your own lab PDF or in my case I screenshotted my Google sheet and it parsed the data properly! I applied to be in the beta months ago and now got access in the app Will post more screenshots below
@levelsio@levelsio

🧪 Open sourced my biomarkers and now put them on bio.pieter.com Just like having thousands of eyes on my startups helps me improve them, I think same with my biomarkers Generally I'm pretty fit and healthy with low inflammatory markers (CRP) I started doing blood work tests in 2016 I think in Bangkok because @joerogan kept talking about it And I like how @bryan_johnson is pushing more people to get their blood work tested and take this seriously and open sourcing his too It's often hard to find doctors to do blood tests, they won't let you, so you're better of finding private clinics to do it ChatGPT is a great way to interpret your results btw!

Pro tip: only take advice from people who are actually doing the thing. There are too many people trying to claim authority by writing nicely made tweets via AI, or template tools, with absolutely no experience. How do you know who's Doing The Thing? There's lots of evidence. If you can't find any evidence of what someone's actually doing, the simple explanation is usually the correct one – they're not. They're trying to get paid by X to pretend to you that they have experience. They're using you to build influence. It's a game-changer to learn from others, but only others who can actually teach you something. The signal-to-noise ratio is getting worse and worse, and yet your available attention remains exactly the same size. Protect it. I don't like to write preach-y posts, but this one's important.

Bolton Wanderers in the Community
🗣 “I think moving so far away from home, I've thought so much about myself, it gave me time to reflect and look back on how I've ended up living five hours away from home doing a job that I love and I think giving back was a big part on that.” We caught up with Chris Forino yesterday to congratulate him on being named BWitC's PFA Community Champion 2024/25 and ask him about why he got involved in supporting the work BWitC does across Bolton. Find out more at bwitc.org.uk @PFA @OfficialBWFC #BWitC | #BWFC

The greatest enemy of truth is ego. You cannot see through the glass if you're focused on your reflection in the glass. Get out of your own way, unshackle your identity from your views, define yourself only by a willingness to see, and you might glimpse a new and deeper horizon.

People often get things backwards when trying to improve their lives. They think the path to happiness is: get more stuff, then do what you want, then be happy. But that's not how it works. The real sequence is the opposite. First, figure out who you really are. Then do the things that naturally follow from that. Finally, you'll end up with what you truly want.

Just finished @shreyas' Product Sense course on Maven. Easily one of the best courses I’ve ever taken — maybe *the* best. Packed with wisdom, not just on Product Sense, but for life too. Intense, fun, and full of humour. 💯 recommended!

@martinrue Some deep ones for ya: 1) Are you happy? (Simple question on the surface, but can go deep...) 2) If you died tomorrow, what would you regret? 3) What was something that you thought was fundamentally true in your 20s/30s, which you now think just isn't so? 4) Who are you?

Friends, tomorrow will mark 39 years since I left another human. So, I'm considering a birthday Q&A vlog, but only if you can ask me interesting or hard questions. Anything goes. Hit me. 🙋🏻‍♂️

After entertaining the idea of not going to Angkor Wat, and literally everyone I know telling me I'm an idiot, I've revised my decision. So, tomorrow morning I'm going to ride over and spend the day zooming between temples. I'm now very excited to see the 8th wonder of the world.
