@AniseNot @Oilfield_Rando They still need a heat source, once larger you need to know how lookout for cannibalism & enclosure stress. It's not impossible to do on your first go but I spent years working in a sanctuary & still encounter issues with opossums that I take to my mentor. Best of luck!

@AniseNot @Oilfield_Rando Definitely dont try to tube on your own for the 1st time. There's risk for accidental tubing into the lungs, stomach puncture and internal milk scalds. They also are more prone to diarrhea and bloat than squirrels, metabolic bone disease from too little or too much calcium...

@AniseNot @SneedMaxx @Oilfield_Rando I tube feed until they are atleast 100g and even at that point when lapping I weigh daily and stimulate multiple times a day. They should gain weight daily. There is so much information to take in on raising opossums and so many things can go wrong. Def find an apprentice ASAP.

@HigginsBoatRum @freddavelynn 👋 That little guy still needs formula and may even still be too young to know how to lap it up on its own. I would Google your closest wildlife rehab or call your local DNR office and see if they can get you a good contact. They have to be tube fed formula which is tricky.

@condorfliesdeep I highly recommend volunteering at your local wildlife sanctuary just to make sure you can handle the opossum poo stank. It's unlike any other poo stank.

@tr0g It's opossum baby season and if a mama is especially hungry or thirsty she will go out to forage in the daytime. They are typically nocturnal but not 100% of the time.

I have a possum wandering the back yard, which is a little odd considering it’s daylight and they’re supposed to be nocturnal. Any thoughts, @RandoCritters?
