I hate Starmer as much as the next person but the idea that his eviction will usher in a government prepared to take tough choices on welfare cuts, immigration, net zero and borders is for the birds. Labour are incapable of governing for the benefit of the British people.

@Glinner Most musical artists are complete lunatics nowadays. They're actually completely disinterested in politics and the wider world, so they get all their positions by quickly identifying with whichever 'views' are least likely to get them cancelled. They have no values, however.

British Government in a shambles tonight. Nobody quite clear who’s in charge. Who would have thought Labour would be been even more useless than the Tories? Starmer living on borrowed time. Support ebbing away. But to what? Nobody knows. The world has rarely been more dangerous in modern times and we barely have a government.

I have confess I’m feeling a little sorry for Starmer. He’s been an awful PM and has to go. I don’t think he understands that he’s not up to the job. @HaydenHewitt I realised recently what changed here. Back in the days of Twitter (despite all the banning etc), if you followed a bunch of people and also browsed For You, you could see 1000 tweets a day from mutuals and randoms. Now X curate 100 posts and show just those posts to everyone.

It would appear X is embracing Facebook's idea of what a good algorithm should be whilst chasing the plan of becoming a Temu TikTok. I can't be the only person who misses forum communities and independence? Social media is corporate conformity. And yes, I'm a hypocrite for using it. I'm well aware.

We are a reasonable, tolerant, diverse, decent country. That is the real Britain. The country I love and will fight for.
