@matisanengineer Depending on your definition of “work for”, I work for 1, 2, or 50ish software companies. I’ve helped many with hiring. Pretty confident in my assessments here

There's pretty much no reason to hire a mid tier developer now

@theo what would be your best tip to level up in terms of technical knowledge asap (not related to AI)?

@theo Mid tier can’t even become a top tier no more, where are the opportunities? Transfer of knowledge etc. The industry will experience a shock eventually. It’s like a population with only elderly people and no young

@thomascortese_ @paularambles I agree you should take chances but they have to be way more calculated now. Ability for new devs to level up is huge. If you haven’t been promoted in 4 years you are fucked

@paularambles @theo My point: give the little guy a chance. You’ll get more value out ofgiving the person a chance who has something to prove opposed to a credentialed “elite” engineer that will ditch your company in 6 months to start a AI Agents for X company.

@theo I can't repo this, it always says "no such tag". Tried several variations, including asking in the 2nd and 3rd message in the chat. On free tier (cuz codex).

Fun fact: LLMs have zero idea how they are configured. They don't know what GPUs they're running on. They don't know what temperature or reasoning level they have set. They don't know if they've been quantized or not. They're just doing next-token prediction. As always.

@theo Unfortunately this is tough to definitively pin down if this is a hallucination or not. This could be A/B and flight testing for outcomes based on reasoning to get live metrics on how the model is reacting. I got 85 myself
