My five non-negotiables for theology:
1) Has to have a concept of a pre-mortal existence of some kind, and consent to coming to earth. Ex nihilo creation is simply untenable for a loving God.
2) Has to have a coherent answer to "why did God create the world," or the purpose for our existence. "To glorify God" is not coherent (in fact it's evil).
3) Has to have coherent soteriology. Non-adherents of your religion/theology have to have some way of being "saved" (Islam fails at this as much as any Christian religion).
4) Can't have a closed canon. I refuse to believe in a God that would bless previous children with direct revelation and not ours.
5) Good fruit. This one is the most subjective but my life has to be noticeably better by living what the religion teaches, and the people as a whole should be "good," however that's defined.
Find me something even close besides LDS.
