My daughter spent 4 years earning her bachelor’s degree, followed by another year doing research at UC San Diego and after scoring high on the MCAT to get accepted into medical school. After 4 more years of med school, she’ll be competing for residency — a total of 10 years of hard work and massive debt.
Meanwhile, she’ll be up against foreign doctors who only spent 6 years in their home countries to become physicians.
How is this fair to American students who invest a decade of their lives and hundreds of thousands in debt to become doctors? Why aren’t we putting American doctors first? Who’s going to compensate our kids for this burden?

25% of US doctors are foreigners. 28,000+ US medical students graduate per year - 1000+ don't get a residency spot. Of the 44,000+ US residency spots per year, 16,000+ are filled by foreigners! TMB president Sherif Zaafran is a strong advocate for foreign doctors and led the state to pass the DOCTOR Act last session, easing licensing requirements for foreign doctors.

This actually violates the law. A company cannot hire based on which legal status to work a person has... So they are not allowed to insist it is H1B only , nor if they are a citizen only.
They may ask that only people currently able to work in the US apply. They may state they sponsor or do not sponsor jobs. I will be reporting this one, great find!

Here’s the problem with Florida (and don’t get me wrong I LOVE Florida!). Outside of maybe Tampa… the main economy revolves around tourism. That doesn’t produce high paying and robust jobs. Housing in Florida only works when it is AFFORDABLE. Affordable enough that the workers who work in the hospitality industry can afford a modest home. Everyone rushed to move to Florida after the pandemic and this drove housing prices to the moon. They have to crash back down to reality.

这些帖子的核心是民族主义防御与whataboutism，而非什么独特“病态”。
近（2026年6月15日起）在X（Twitter）上确实出现了印度用户批量转发/创作相关内容，把中国古代“士农工商”（学者、农民、工匠、商人）和现代户籍制度说成“种姓制度”，常配金字塔图或对比 meme，作为对“印度种姓阻碍发展”的反击。
事实澄清：中国没有印度式的种姓制度
印度种姓制度（varna + jati）：起源于古代吠陀传统，有宗教基础（纯洁/污染、karma），强调世袭、内婚制、不可接触者（Dalit）概念。至今约98%印度人仍认同自己的种姓，影响婚姻、职业、政治动员和社会歧视，存在针对低种姓的暴力事件。这是印度社会特有的、根深蒂固的身份等级制。
中国的情况：
古代“士农工商”是儒家/法家理想的职业-意识形态排序，强调对国家的贡献（农民常被尊崇，商人有时被贬低）。它不是世袭种姓，财富与地位不完全对应，社会流动性较高，尤其是通过科举制（隋唐后）实现上升通道。
现代户籍制度（hukou）确实造成城乡二元结构：农村户口在教育、医疗、社保、就业上长期受限，数亿农民工面临“漂泊”困境。西方一些分析文章常将其比作“caste-like”或“两个种姓”，因为它也是出生决定、制度性固化不平等。
但本质不同：户籍是行政管理工具（人口控制、资源分配），没有宗教纯洁观念、不可接触禁忌或内婚制强制。中国政府从2014年起持续改革（放宽落户、统一城乡社保），2026年还有新指导意见在推进。
简单说：中国有阶级分层和制度性不平等（任何大国都有），但没有印度那种宗教-血统-纯洁三位一体的刚性种姓文明。把两者等同，是典型的概念偷换。
