NEWS: Apple Might Entirely Stop Producing The Vision Pro by the End of 2024. macrumors.com/2024/10/23/app…

My X feed is a firehose of new models, modes, fine-tunes, tips and tricks. I see videos of AI agents doing unbelievable things. I hear stories of startups raising massive funding rounds. And I see people claiming that AI is turning everybody into a 10x engineer. My in-person experiences are markedly different though - Executives and consultants confess to me that most AI projects are failing. They fail due to poor quality data, lack of talent, high costs, or negative ROIs. They also all complain about reliability and accuracy. Private traffic data shared with me shows that if you combine all answer engines (perplexity, you, phind, chatgpt, bing, etc.) they account for virtually zero traffic and that Perplexity is only barely ahead the other ones. Weird? And a yet-to-be released survey showed that the vast majority of developers are not adopting AI tools and IDEs. The company running the survey told me that "Executives want developers to use AI, but they don't want it". What gives? This is causing me some cognitive dissonance 🤔
