@JFranciscoSag Yea I’m pretty high on him but he’d need to take another leap with his touch, footwork and processing in the post and short roll. I still wouldn’t really dump it down to him on a switch against like Scottie or Franz for example in a playoff series.

The problem is most fans watch to be entertained. They want to their favorite teams to win, but they want to watch players that awe them. I’m a big Derrick White fan, but no one buys a ticket to see him. No one turns on a game to watch him. No one buys his jerseys. No sponsor signs on with a team or the league because of him. Media doesn’t debate about him on the talking head shows. So it’s hard for people to wrap their heads around a metric that says he’s better than the players that do drive all of that.

@SamQuinnCBS To be a superstar level, you need to be elite at 2/ 3 scoring, playmaking, or defense. He’s a 9/10 scorer, 4/10 playmaker & 6.5/10 defender. Curry and Shaq are exceptions because their offensive gravity created playmaking value. That’s why he isn’t worth his contract.

I think I'm lower on Jaylen Brown than like, the accolades suggest I should be. I think he's more like a top-25 player than a top-15 player. But I think going too much further than that just overcomplicates player evaluation.

Like, I would say I'm generally analytically-inclined. I don't think the models are making this up. I get where they're coming from. I also think we get to April every year and go "wow so all of the stuff we thought mattered in January has sort of flown out the window, right?

@Zroche34 Been a fan 20 years but i always have a team or two i watch in both conferences. Last year was the least amount of Celtics I consumed in my life due to the roster, this year prolly similar I hate no man’s land teams. Either be bad or be a serious contender

@deebread7 @Three_Cone Literally everything on my feed is people saying he’s not even top 50 and he sucks and held the Celtics back. Both sides are way too hyperbolic. Hes not top 5 or even top 10, prolly around 15-25ish depending on league health

@CousinTurn Players just value different things. Ancillary shit is extremely valuable but it’s also “easy” to good players. To quote KD we can get anyone to bend their knees for 30 minutes and play defense.They value offensive skillset (mainly scoring) more than any other aspect of the sport

@AndrewDBailey Current players ?? Maybe 10-15. It’s very hard to scale up that high, DWhite is an amazing player and he was asked to scale up his load like 2% and his offense cratered. Eating usage may not be all that valuable if you’re not top 5 but it’s extremely difficult to do

First off, someone with first hand experience is considered a primary source, they should be cited. Secondly, is he saying that Jaylen Browns contributions to the team this season (28 7 5) didnt drive the teams success?? So without him they would have been better??
