Let me be clear: I do NOT apologize for calling Nik out for his comment. I think it was reprehensible and didn’t delete my tweet either. I will always continue to call out racist behavior from anyone in tech, particularly to my own identity, and have zero tolerance for it. Attacks on identity have no place in the pursuit of innovation. I did apologize because I give him the benefit of the doubt that it wasn’t his intent. I have been on the other side of “being canceled” and it sucks. He works for and with many Indians and people of South Asian descent, who also stand by him and claim he didn’t mean it like that. I don’t think the best way to deal with this is to double down and be a dick. He learnt his lesson. That said, he has not publicly apologized for it yet so you can choose to not believe whether it was an innocent comment or something more. Many people might not agree with my approach. Many people think it’s being soft on a clearly racist attack. I’ve gotten DMs saying I shouldn’t have apologized and calling me a loser for taking this stance. You’re entitled to that view, and hell, maybe you’re right. It’s just not who I am. Frankly, I don’t enjoy using X to engage in these discussions. I use it to learn and share my curiosity about technology. Sometimes it’s necessary, but it’s a huge distraction from the main thing. The entire episode is distasteful and I hope it passes.

Then came Anirudh Now, the music is made with the express intention of being used in Insta reels They have no lyrics, are loud, sound the same and you forget them within 48 hours of listening to them. It is sad that Tamil movie music has gone from being that iron grandfather trunk that lasted centuries to a disposable plastic bag that you throw away after a single use.
