hey old guy Trump is not invading Iran with 300k troops all you old fucking dicks need to just shut the fuck up and go fishing or some shit Trump does not have the balls to invade Iran with ground troops
John Bolton@AmbJohnBolton

If the U.S. tries to get out of Iran without demonstrating military dominance of the Strait of Hormuz, the regime will use the Strait like a light switch. They will turn it on and off when it suits them. When will we be willing to use military force to open the Strait if not now? youtu.be/3y3_wvVYeyw?si…

@Crash9510 @BillKristol A "kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out" kinda guy. Aside from the law, since Korea, US has fought 3 counter-insurgencies. Killing people you shouldn't is how you lose. And US did lose two of them. Iraq was a mixed bag. Read "The Village" by Bing West. Bet Petraeus, McChyrstal did

@gtconway3d The debate about systems, capitalism or marxism, is largely pointless. What counts is power, is it adequately limited, and widely dispersed? It hasn't been for some time, and it's getting even worse under Trump. Btw, Biden appointed Lina Khan to push back by reviving antitrust.

This isn't business; it's a power grab. One family owning two of our biggest media outlets benefits no one but them. This is Trump's America, and he's selling out our democracy piece by piece.

"What we are all seeing here is about one thing: power. ... Our Framers, the people who wrote the Constitution, the people who wrote the antitrust laws, were about fighting concentration of power. And this is an unholy alliance between powerful economic forces, powerful corporations, and powerful people in government who know no limits."

@Crash9510 @BillKristol I think every one in that kill chain for those two shipwrecked guys should be court-martialed, and Hegseth tried for murder. There are no end of competent lawyers who think the same. Hegseth has repeatedly expressed comtempt for the laws of war, which are also US law.

@thweatt_robert @BillKristol Saying something is a fact does not make it so. A president has vast military power to protect the homeland. Encouraging Democratic leaning soldiers to believe that every order might be illegal will break it faster

@Crash9510 @BillKristol We've seen clearly illegal orders given and obeyed. That's not a left opinion, it's fact. Intervening in electoral politics would go far beyond even that double tap in the Caribbean (which has not been repeated, note). If such orders were to be given, it could break the force.

@thweatt_robert @BillKristol Typically illegal orders are legal military actions leftists don’t like. The “don’t obey” videos made by politicians are more dangerous because they create doubt for young soldiers, sailors, and marines

@MarioNawfal Cute he thinks that issue is still in doubt. Wonder that you do. Every day's delay makes the eventual price higher. Trump cannot outlast, and he cannot out escalate. Look at the polls, if nothing else.

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 Walking away now would make Trump look like a massive political loser. Ex. IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus suggested declaring success without real results would damage U.S. credibility globally. He says it would send a dangerous signal of weakness to both allies and rivals. "Eventually, the Iranian regime will be forced to relinquish enrichment on Iranian soil. They will be forced to cap their ballistic missile program." @jconricus
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 It may look like Iran is having its way with the U.S., but that's because Trump's gloves haven't fully come off yet. Ex. IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus says one side is fighting at full capacity while the other is still holding significant power in reserve. He says that gap will matter if escalation continues. "The other side is holding back and barely fighting with one arm." @jconricus

@heynavtoor Technique I found very helpful, rewriting (longhand) notes. I did this for a statistics course when I was a Psych major. A lot of it is still stuck, 40 years later.

You take notes in meetings because you think you'll remember more. Princeton and UCLA proved the opposite. Laptop note-takers wrote down 65% more words than longhand note-takers. They also scored significantly worse on understanding questions. A week later — with their own notes in front of them — they were still worse. This effect has a name. It's not what you think. 🧵

@amandalitman One little problem with that, that old guy who was president was ahead of, not behind, the curve. Unless you think anti oligarchy/ green/ pro union policies are the past. Blaming it all on age is just intellectually lazy.

We’ve had lots of speculative bubbles where aggressive industry overcapitalizes a new technology. AI is different. The railroad boom left tracks. The internet bubble left fiber. The housing bubble left empty homes. The AI bubble will leave obsolete GPUs & unusable buildings. The psychology of this bubble is far more akin to tulip mania in the 1600s except instead of flower bulbs selling for the equivalent of a million dollars each, it’s data centers for $100 billion per gigawatt. Another way to describe AI data centers is money furnaces. Zero data centers have made a dime. And with the current technology, zero will. The CEOs know these monstrosities can NEVER make money, but if they don’t go along with the program, their investors will leave now. They’re selling out the future to avoid a short term embarrassment by admitting they were wrong. They think they’re playing musical chairs, and they still can come out on top. But in this game there are no chairs. There is no music—just a bunch of obsolete NVIDIA chips rotting in giant white tombs. My hope for this no-win scenario is that after the financial apocalypse is over and we learn how to make fire again, that we will use this as a lesson about how we need to regulate the internet like we do any other critical infrastructure. Since the beginning, we’ve treated the internet like a sidekick to real life. We never made rules for it like we have for the real world. That has to change. We must recognize the digital world is just as real as the physical world and that it’s being polluted by our own ignorance—and by billionaires who want to exploit it. Happy Earth Day

@abstractedaway @BillKristol Biden had no such power, with 2 of his 50 Senators being Manchin and Sinema. They're why we didn't get the John Lewis Act, etc, etc, remember? As it was, the Court protected Trump when it became clear Biden wanted significant reform (term limits).

@BillKristol Biden should have immediately expanded SCOTUS to 13 judges - one for each Circuit Court, as it was meant to be structured. After years of Republicans packing the court, it was urgently needed. Despite his good points, he didn't see where there was no substitute for victory.
