I just read the draft of the proposed Delimitation Bill and calculated the gain/loss for large states, if 2011 Census Data is taken to mean "population". Tamil Nadu is set to lose the most in relative terms.

@prakashraaj The proposed Delimitation Bill actually aims to increase the total number of seats. If Lok Sabha grows to 850, South Indian states like Andhra won't lose seats; they'll gain more representatives than they have today. Why fear more representation?

Please stop lying to citizens just to please Modi. Women reservation bill was approved in 2023 itself. It can be passed even now . But your gang wanted to pass Delimitation bill which would weaken the representation of South Indian states including Andhra Pradesh. Requesting you not to sell the self respect and the State rights of Andhra People who have made you DCM 🙏🙏🙏 I am ready for debate with you to explain . Are you ready #justasking

A historic opportunity to strengthen women’s representation in India’s legislatures has been deliberately blocked by the opposition. The opposition’s stance makes it clear that they lack the intent to support transformative reforms that strengthen Bharat’s democracy and empower women. By refusing to back the Women’s Reservation Bill, they have once again placed political calculations above national progress, delaying a long-overdue step toward inclusive governance and gender justice. Supporting this landmark reform would have demonstrated a collective commitment to empowering women and deepening democratic values. As an NDA ally, the @JanaSenaParty firmly welcomes and appreciates the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji in bringing this significant bill before Parliament. Had it been passed, it would have marked a defining moment of pride and progress for millions of women across the country. We remain confident that, in the days ahead, women will secure their rightful and strengthened place in India’s legislative institutions. @PMOIndia @AndhraPradeshCM

I would like to appeal to all Members of Parliament… Please reflect upon your conscience, remembering the women in your own families. The legislation to ensure women’s reservation in legislative bodies is a significant opportunity to do justice to women of our nation. Please do not deprive our Nari Shakti of new opportunities. If this amendment is passed unanimously, it will further empower the women of our country and strengthen our democracy. Let us come together today to create history. Let us ensure that the women of India, who are half of the nation’s population, receive their rightful due.

@narendramodi We know what you were trying to do. You wanted to increase seats to BJP winning states in the name of women. Reservation is already there. Allot in existing seats and we are happy to support

@shubhamkagrawa @puram_politics No tweets. It should be in the bill and it should be assured for all future transactions. Because this cannot be challenged in court. Tomorrow they will form board as per bill and the board will say that it's unfair and we are revoking that seat allocation and we cannot challenge

@vivekshines @puram_politics Here tweeted by the ministry itself: TN gets 59 seats. This takla keeps on doing this fear mongering and north south always. Anyway, if I had it my way it would be done strictly by population

Annamalai lies as usual. He claims that the draft bill nowhere mentions that the seats will be based on population. But the draft bill clearly says that it be based on population. Annamalai claims that seats will be increased on pro-rata basis. But the draft bill doesn't say so.

#WATCH | Chennai | On Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin's video message on delimitation, BJP leader K Annamalai says, "Very unfortunate! The kind of language the Chief Minister uses in that video. He is saying that Tamil Nadu will go back to the 1960s, threatening the PM. Very unfortunate, fear-mongering. PM Modi is making every effort to give respect and representation to our mothers and sisters. When the bill came to Parliament in Sept 2023, it was passed unanimously. Now, the PM is trying to implement it earlier so that women do not suffer. We are following a process, and nowhere is it said that it is a population-based increase in Lok Sabha seats...Even before seeing the bill on April 16, the CM's creating fear in the minds of people is condemnable. It goes against the oath he took as the CM."

@vivekshines @puram_politics Exactly my point, the bill doesnt mention the formula for calculation, it just says by population ( which ibv is necessary by principle of natural justice, each vote needs to have the same power )

@angry_birdu Have the specified which census? When constituencies will be drawn borders are also supposed to change right within the state ? It will be based on regionwise population within state and proportion of sc st population. For that you require census.

Is he really that hate-filled that he loses rationality? Who "introduced" this bill - calling the Parliament to session w/ 2 days notice - in the middle of TN & WB elections? If we dont react now, then when?🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ This is an existential question for our state. So we must ask every NDA Party & Candidate every day during this election : Where do you stand on this Bill? With Tamil Nadu, or Delhi?
Sumanth Raman@sumanthraman

With the electoral ground not looking good, time to refocus on making Delhi the villain.
