i don't get why people read fiction. it feels like something a child would do

TLDR There is no inner self, you're chasing an imaginary concept, the end.

I’ve thought a lot about this. Contemplation vs over-rumination. There’s a difference (which most ppl don’t realize) between say, journaling about any challenging feelings coming up (sadness, worry, obsessiveness etc) for 30 minutes or closing your eyes and doing parts-work therapy yourself (examining a painful emotion and diving deep into it, trying to unpack it) VS Thinking all day about your problems - how shitty your life is, how your wife doesn’t love you, blah blah blah. Most people get stuck in the latter — we all do. But contemplating or introspecting intentionally with curiosity for a limited time can be very helpful. @hubermanlab has talked about this — sometimes it takes working with a good therapist to then be able to work through emotions yourself in journaling/contemplation.

Doing my best here, folks; the New York Times piece showed that in a blind test, 54% of respondents preferred A.I. writing to human. Not human-written. Not A.I.-assisted. Just A.I.

after i started prostituting i suddenly became extremely aware the degree to which I was subconsciously treating my free personal sex as work, with the payment being their affection and approval
