How did he not expect this? Did he think lawsuits were free? It doesn't get any cheaper as it moves towards discovery and actual trial. And all of this will be to lose his claims, or have them sent to arbitration (as to OTK and Mythic) where he will get pennies on the dollar at best.

One of Gimli’s balls has more battlefield XP than half the Kingsguard. Jaime trains against knights. Gimli trains against orcs, trolls, cave systems, and apocalyptic darkness. Different sport. Different weight class. Different universe settings. Jaime wins tourneys. Gimli survives world-ending events. Respect the Kingslayer… but let’s not send him into a balrog-tier weight division. 🪓
