Anything close to $700 is impossible.
Steamdeck is $800 and has last gen hardware.
What makes you think this machine with TWO chips a newer CPU, 6 cores instead of 4.
Plus a dedicated GPU is going to cost less?
I love the steam machine, I want it to be good but I can't lie to myself. It doesn't look great right now

Recent updates to Steam suggest that the Steam Machine may come out in June It's expected to cost over $700 on release
English

@ingueferroque Valve did not subsidize the Deck. It's not like a console with exclusives. The Steam Machine will be $999. There's no way it can be less.
English

@HarleyHero_ @StormslayerDev They will subsidize it like they did with the Steam Deck. I doubt they will make anything on these.

@ShaunStromb Except "AI OS" is still an OS, with structure and functions and dependencies. If there's no "power user" mode then it's nothing more than a toy. AI slop is AI slop. this bubble will bust sooner than later and will be begging for all the talented programmers to come back.
English

@HTWingNut Maybe so. But when an OS doesn't need programs to run, an AI OS makes much more sense. Even Linux is legacy which needs applications for the human to use. An AI OS will just do what the user wants, no applications, no human programers.

@NVIDIARTXSpark c'mon Nvidia. this is an elementary school presentation using garbage AI video and voice.

NVIDIA RTX Spark reinvents @Windows PCs for the era of personal AI agents, offering a new class of computer that moves from tool to teammate.
English

@ShaunStromb Linux is going nowhere. Linux is the future. Linux can run on anything, and efficiently too.
English

@ibon_garayXD Source? Maybe with DLSS 5.5 using 100% AI generated frames and 16x frame gen.
English

@imadbouhafs @NikTek yes, 1440p with Ray Tracing, 100 fps with DLSS
English

@imadbouhafs @NikTek I bet it's nothing more than a demo written specifically for their proprietary ARM that they paid the game devs handsomely for with a strict NDA.
English

@imadbouhafs @NikTek The cpu is arm but can emulate all x86 applications written for windows
English

@shiri_shh LOL. So many people easily baited by this BS in a black leather jacket.

The laptop hasn't changed in 30 years. NVIDIA just changed it
RTX Spark is their first PC chip ever.
- RTX 5070 level GPU
- 128GB unified memory
- 1 petaflop of local AI
- thin, light, barely throttles unplugged
Your AI agent lives on the machine. 24/7. No cloud.
This is step one of the agentic AI PC, and everyone else is about to copy it.

@xchroot Unified CPU & GPU have existed forever. Unless it can efficiently emulate x86/x64 Windows gaming & Win-centric apps are not going anywhere. & with unified everything just more e-waste. No repair or upgrades. need more RAM? buy new PC. Better CPU? Buy a new PC.
English

🚨do you understand what just happened with NVIDIA RTX Spark..
Jensen Huang walked on stage and pulled an entire gaming PC out of his pocket.
NVIDIA merged the CPU, RTX GPU, AI hardware and up to 128GB of memory into one Windows-on-ARM superchip and called it the end of the PC as you know it.
> 20-core Grace CPU plus a Blackwell GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores - RTX 5070-tier graphics in a 14mm body.
> NVIDIA claims 100+ FPS at 1440p in 007 First Light and Forza Horizon 6, on battery.
> It runs a 120-billion-parameter AI model locally, no cloud needed.
> ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Microsoft already have 30+ laptops lined up for this fall.
The whole internet has two questions: is it real, and how much. Nobody's asking the third - what happens to every other chipmaker if it is.

Say hello to the Nvidia N1X

@TheMrGromble @k1rallik Not only that, it's a proprietary ARM chip. So unless it can emulate Windows (which will use more resources) they will have a library of about 10 games.
English

@k1rallik So what you're saying is that it's going to actually be playing at 30 fps and die in 2 hours of playtime max.
English

@k1rallik Unless they broke the laws of physics, this is nothing interesting. Gaming laptops have existed forever. Power and cooling are always a problem.
Will it emulate x86 Windows because PC games don't run natively on ARM.
He's trying to sell an AI PC as a gaming PC. Not buying it.

@Cryptoboyy_Aji The bank charges for all the extra paperwork and the people that have to do it. The fee is also to try to prevent it from happening again.
English

let me tell you how banks actually work.
you have $2 in your account.
you spend $4.
you’re overdrawn by $2.
the bank charges you $35.
not because they lost anything.
not because it cost them anything.
not because $2 hurt a institution sitting on billions.
just because the fine print said they could and the people getting hit with these fees aren’t people who forgot to check their balance.
they’re people who checked their balance. knew it was low and bought groceries anyway because the kids needed to eat.
banks collected $8 billion in overdraft fees last year. $8 billion extracted almost entirely from people who were already struggling.
then turned around and called it a service. a service.
charging you $35 for being $2 short is not a service.
it’s a penalty for being poor.
and the same banks that charge you $35 for a $2 mistake got a trillion dollar bailout for their $700 billion mistake.
but sure, you just need to manage your money better.

@BlackLabelAdvsr @TimTimboFL You're a clown Jon. That is the price I paid for my home in 2016, at least 50% bigger, 3% interest rate, mortgage is $1200/mo. I can't/won't move because it's too damn expensive.
English

@BlackLabelAdvsr Mortgage rates were like 3% in 2016. I know, that's when I bought my home, and it has doubled in value in those ten years. My mortgage is $1200/mo, that image shows $2400/mo. My home is also at least 50% bigger. That is the problem. I won't move because it's too damn expensive.
English

@WallStreetApes Or you can just use a credit card that pays back a small % with every purchase, you're still ahead. I earn 5% back on every purchase when using my CC.
English

Target locations are beginning to charge customers the “merchant fee” on every item they purchase
This is the cost of credit and debit card processing fees
Big box retails like Target have paid these fees in the past but has decided to now pass the cost onto the customer
There was a major legal change with the ‘2025 Visa Mastercard interchange fee antitrust settlement with merchants’
This settlement gave retailers more legal leeway to stop fully absorbing fees and start passing some costs to card users
American keep getting robbed blind

@UziCryptoo Your math ain't mathing. $150k pays about $23k in taxes single / $19k married. For low earners the necessities take up the bulk of their paychecks. For the "rich" ($150k isn't rich), it takes pretty much nothing. Rich made their success off the backs of the working class.
English

Everyone shouts "Tax the Rich"... but look at the facts.
A $150k earner pays around $30,600 in federal tax.
A $25k earner pays about $1,200.
It takes 25 people on $25k to contribute what one person on $150k does.
So why drive high earners out of the U.S. when they already shoulder most of the burden?
The problem isn't how much tax is collected.
The problem is how much the government wastes.
Stop blaming the rich.
Start holding the government to account.
