@eric_czerwonka @Daniel_Wylde_ @CM1488_87 @WomanDefiner It's been a while since TAP, but if I remember, you should still file a claim, even if you get 0%. It goes in your record and you can be treated if any secondary effects show up. Plus they consider any issue that pop up after your service.

@Toad2012 @Daniel_Wylde_ @CM1488_87 @WomanDefiner I somehow lost my sense of smell after years of crawling around inside the wings of 135s, B1 tanks and B52 bladders. I didnt have anything documented while I was in so I never bothered to even look at getting disability. I guess I'm the sucker.

I am begging someone, anyone to clean up the disability fraud in the VA. This guy was a Navy reservist who went to school for the Government and got out after 2 years with disability benefits for anxiety and depression. This has to end.

The dishwasher broke My wife said "good thing we have the home warranty" I said nothing I've been paying $62 a month for three years for this moment $2,232 for the peace of mind that when something breaks someone will come to the house and tell me it's not covered I called 47 minutes on hold They sent a technician Arrival window: Tuesday through Thursday between 8am and 5pm My analyst delivers faster than that And he still hasn't fixed the gridlines He showed up Wednesday at 4:47pm Looked at the dishwasher Opened the door Closed the door Touched something underneath Said "not covered" 90 seconds That's faster than my bank lets me prove I'm human I said "what's covered" He said "the motor" I said "what's wrong with it" He said "not the motor" I said "convenient" He said the service fee is $75 I paid a man $75 to open my dishwasher, close my dishwasher, and say two words My analyst could do that And he's not even that good I called the warranty company back 38 minutes on hold Requested the policy 129 pages I read all 129 pages Because that's what I do The coverage section is 34 pages The exclusions section is 58 The business model is right there In the margins Where nobody reads Except me Page 91 says "all mechanical and electrical components essential to appliance function are covered under standard service" Page 104 excludes control panels A control panel is an electrical component essential to appliance function Their own document contradicts itself 13 pages apart I highlighted both Sent them an email Subject line: "Plz fix. Thx." Attached both pages No other context Took them three days to send a technician Took them 4 hours to call me back when I found the loophole Funny how that works They covered the repair Waived the $75 And I canceled the warranty anyway Because a contract that contradicts itself isn't a contract It's a suggestion My wife said "so we're canceling" I said "we're canceling" She said "and the dishwasher" I said "fixed. They're covering it." She said "how" I said "I read the policy" She said "all 129 pages" I said "the exclusions section starts on page 47. The coverage section ends on page 34. There are 13 pages between them where they hoped nobody would look." She looked at me Then she said "you're unbelievable" I said "I just saved us $744 a year and got a free dishwasher repair. I'm not unbelievable. I'm thorough." She looked at the ceiling The dishwasher works now The warranty is canceled And the policy has been read By at least one person Probably the first Make common sense common again Plz fix. Thx. The heart of the VA “disability” debate isn’t policy, it’s the word itself. Disability is a term loaded with misunderstanding and stigma. Uninformed veterans and civilians negatively react to the idea of compensation for someone who appears physically “able.” That reaction is conditioned by decades of Hollywood cultural imagery that includes disfigurement, prosthetics, and World War I–style shell shock. In that frame disability is limited to something visible and severe. But that’s not what the VA system is built around. What veterans leave service with are limitations. Some immediate, others latent but predictable based on exposure, wear, and mathematical and science-based risk. These are measurable, actuarial realities. The system isn’t designed for public adjudication based on anecdotes or subjective thresholds of “hurt enough.” Yet many people implicitly treat VA disability like workers’ compensation, which invites a kind of vigilantism and an eagerness to identify fraud. It mirrors the logic of true crime culture: find the bad actor and expose the scam! In practice, that instinct often targets legitimately suffering veterans, turning them into suspects and criminals rather than beneficiaries. What’s missing from the conversation is the underlying purpose: the VA Disability program is, functionally, a quality-of-life compensation model. It acknowledges that service imposes lasting costs, not just on the individual, but often on their family and long-term well-being. But of course the current terminology obscures that reality. “Disability” narrows the public’s understanding to visible impairment, when the system is actually compensating for diminished lifetime capacity and risk exposure. If the goal is clarity and legitimacy in the public mind, the VA should reconsider the term itself. The whole damn thing… its language, framing, and branding. Because as long as we rely on a misunderstood word, we’ll keep having the wrong debate. And veterans will lose.

@_CalGore @gregcameback @ArmyMudPuppy It comes down to documentation, what was observed/reported while active, and what the examiner observes during their eval. They request testing/psych evals and determine whether it's service connected and if it precludes you from certain future job prospects or overall QOL.

@Daniel_Wylde_ @CM1488_87 @WomanDefiner No responses.... telling. Most of my HAZMAT cabinet was carcenogenic, lifting 185lbs with only 2 inch strip of footing on either side and 5 inches of headspace while being hunched over, but im "chair force" so that tinnitus rating I got from being on the flightline is FrAuD!

What about guys inhaling hydrazine throughout their 20 year career? Those exposed to AFFF? Jet fuel? The burn pits? Countless other hazards? Should they not get military disability just for scoring higher on their ASVAB? VA fraud is abundant but only a retard thinks only combat vets should get it. Hell half the combat vets in the last decade haven't seen shit but can claim being one.
