@TechCrunch AT&T letter: “It is always advisable to be careful when taking calls from numbers that you do not recognize and stay alert to any fraud or theft attempts.” Interesting-since now scammers and phishers can “call you” from a spoofed number that you already get calls from!

Bad news for AT&T customers. AT&T will begin notifying around 110 million customers about a fresh data breach that allowed cybercriminals to steal the phone records of “nearly all” of its customers, a company spokesperson told TechCrunch. Read more: tcrn.ch/4cCsb0W

So with #ATT #Snowflake breach all the scammers can now spoof a call to you from a “known caller” bypassing number blocks and becoming a “favorite”. This is going to be such fun for the scammers and phishers. Too bad STIR/SHAKEN is not universal.
