That’s the difference in the way that players have been able to actually impact the game. You used to be able to impact the game the most by getting your hands on the footy the most, now that’s not the case. But… we still (myself included) always name disposals first when talking about a players impact. Also, the most interactive part of footy for casual fans is fantasy, which has disposals as the most impactful stat because of pure volume, so casual fans are really only worried about a players ability to find the footy. There’s no way to fix those, it’s just a simple part of the our sport but it did get me thinking, what is the best indicator of a players impact on a game? Is it score involvements? Goals? Intercepts? #AFL

I’ve been critical of Hill’s kicking - but it is technical as much as anything. Here’s the key turnover that costs us. This technique (lean back, casual ball drop, limited back lift, low speed follow through, horizontal toe) is used for “sliders” (soft kicks that float gently).
