@CodeRed_dev You mean virtually all of the people selling courses?
English

@CodeRed_dev In the gold rush, don't mine the gold, but sell the shovel.
English

@CodeRed_dev No need to criticize the person
Everybody needs to make money somehow
I think if I can get good at programming to teach for free one day while doing something else I get paid for that way everyone wins but I need to finish reading the Godot documentation 4.6 and books
English

@CodeRed_dev Thomas Brush would like to have a word with you. Easily top 5 channels I instantly blocked on youtube
English

@CodeRed_dev This is a way to succeed in gamedev.
By the way "imagine never succeeding at gamedev, never succeeding in teaching but posting about people actually thriving" this is how I read this post.
English

@CodeRed_dev Who is buying these courses? With how much tutorial content is out there, you can learn anything for free.
English

@CodeRed_dev That is like saying you shouldn't learn from a teacher who hasn't been the CEO of a big business and if so then if your game isn't successful nobody should listen to you. You can learn from anyone who knows what you don't
English

@CodeRed_dev this one might not be it but its a common movie trope, like the master who failed to attain a high honor in their craft now teaches a random student who manages to claim that honor in the name their master and is better at it than their master and all that
English

@CodeRed_dev It’s as if an educator focused on educating and teaching.
I myself am a terrible game developer, and even so many of my students are outstanding game developers.
English

@CodeRed_dev I wouldn't be that harsh. Imho they are able to teach you how to do simpler games, I guess they don't market it as how to create profitable games, do they? They are probably making decent money with all the stuff they do. Good for them.
English

@CodeRed_dev only like the premise of their videos, having a bunch of devs work of a game with no communication. their made games suck tho only thing they have going is the artstyle and that gets old after a couple of times. also pisses me off when they completely change the game.
English

@CodeRed_dev Not informed on this drama, but In general I think a lot of people underestimate just how much damage bad or inapplicable advise can cause
For me, it took me wayy too long to learn who I should listen to and how to properly decipher wisdom
English

@CodeRed_dev It depends on how you measure success.
However, if he really wanted to succeed, he has all the resources and audience to do it.
English

@CodeRed_dev There is just so many channel and video like "You NEED to whatch this BEFORE making a game", and it's one dude that never made a sucessful (if any) game in their life.
English

@CodeRed_dev there's no need to be a succesful gamedev to teach others how to be one
English

@CodeRed_dev I don't know this particular person. But one thing is sure: just because their games are unsuccessful, it doesn't mean they can't craft them. Perhaps they're not great at individual topics (e.g. marketing).
But they have experience, and that's the most valuable as a teacher.
English

@CodeRed_dev That’s like being a used car salesman but you actually sell bicycles lol
English

@CodeRed_dev I think its worth much more learning from fails than from a one-time success.
English

@CodeRed_dev succeeding in life is heavily lick based: the right connections, family, background, etc. You can be a great teacher with no success in the professional field.
English

@CodeRed_dev Dude…that’s like 90% of YouTube game dev tutorial people. Very few have actually shipped a game.
English

@CodeRed_dev I generally don't pay attention to those people. it seems odd to me, lkes why listen to someone who gave up. How to be a Game Dev is simple. make the game, promote the game, share the game, post updates, build an audience. there... crash course
Building an audience takes time
