Watching leftists announce their departure from X is rather telling. They all have the same mantra: they don’t like the new TOS (something not a single one of them ever cared about before); controversial figures are allowed to have accounts; Musk is a terrible person; and it’s no longer safe because misinformation/disinformation is allowed. They all got their talking points in order. Let’s face the facts of what is driving them away. Before Musk, there was a clear anti-conservative and anti-Christian bias by the owners of Twitter. They went out of their way to shadowban and shut down accounts that did not follow the approved leftist narratives. This got worse following the 2020 election when they banned Trump. Silencing their political opposition gave them boldness on steroids. During the COVID plandemic insanity, Twitter abused and violated its own policies to find ways to silence opposition to forced lockdowns, masking, and the jab. They did everything conceivable to control the narrative and showed zero remorse while doing so. Worse, they blatantly lied in front of a congressional hearing while they were engaged in these practices. Enter Musk. Elon’s purchase of the site was a game changer on an international level. Recognizing that speech which is dictated by the tech overlords destroys a free society, Musk promised to “unlock” Twitter’s potential and make speech free once again on the site. And, to make matters more interesting, his open release of the “Twitter Files” confirmed what many had always known to be true, Twitter, in conjunction with the Biden regime, was engaged in silencing the opposition. Leftists lost their ever-loving minds. They could attempt to mitigate things but they could not keep the truth in the bag any longer While many of his decisions have been controversial, sometimes even questionable, to users, no one can deny that Twitter, now X, opened the floodgates of information that had been tightly controlled by left-leaning ideologues. Society was now free to say whatever it wanted, within certain boundaries (because, let’s face it, there always have to be some rules within any private party’s website). While the leftists were mad, they still remained knowing that X’s influence was wider than most any social media out there. But, now they all want to leave. Why? Because they now see that free speech makes a difference. X became one of the key components of Trump’s victory in 2024. News stories that would have died under the old regime, information that could make an impact on the electorate, personal stories, experiences, and opinions had free rein once again. The MSM could not control the narrative when one of the largest social media sites existed to provide additional information and the ability to counter the accepted narratives. People finally could look at the entire story and make informed decisions. And, that ability greatly contributed to the election’s outcome. The leftists are not leaving X because they have noble concerns. They are leaving because they know they have lost control. They cannot threaten, bully, cajole, or intimidate Musk. And, because they cannot force him to change the rules back, the users of the site cannot be forced into accepting their version of reality. If they cannot control the narrative, then they refuse to play. They are taking their ball and going home. That’s what all this is about. Schoolyard bullies who finally got their nose punched in, so they’re running home to their mommies. And, honestly, I’m loving every minute of it all.
