@IterIntellectus "Darwinism stops above the neck" is among the most fallacious and obvious lies that will totally collapse in the next few years.

@IterIntellectus it was really clever of nature to make our brains this completely separate thing that is not part of our physical body and therefore not affected by genes

@IterIntellectus When it comes to intellect, all potential is genetic. Whether that potential is actually tapped into depends on environmental factors. All physical traits are mostly genetic but those too can be enhanced by what you actually do with them.

@IterIntellectus if you look hard enough you can probably find someone arguing that skin color is determined by socioeconomic factors

@IterIntellectus intelligence & personality is even more genetic than physical abilities. physical ability needs nurturing and development to make unlock, even if you are genetically gifted. intelligence & personality is baselines for most humans and mostly decided at birth.

Everything including your intelligence, personality traits & even political leanings are HEAVILY influenced by genetics. More and more data is coming out, proving the importance of genetics & nature over nurture. Environmental and socioeconomic factors (systemic racism/divorce, etc.) are often excuses for genetic shortcomings.

I’m not sure intelligence and personality are shaped only by environment or socioeconomic factors. Thinking of the people I grew up with; it’s night and day in so many ways. Unless you count the broader environment we access through travel or online connections. I’d also add: intellectual curiosity plays a big role.

@IterIntellectus I've seen claims that the only thing that makes women on average weaker than men is social conditioning. If that is the case this means Brock Lesnar is the single most feminist soon of a birch walking the earth on this day.

@IterIntellectus Children of “geniuses” rarely contribute as much. Because “intelligence” is about lucky bias. Personal bias depends on surroundings. It’s not in DNA, but in neural network.

@IterIntellectus The genetic correlation with physical characteristics is stronger than with personality/intellect. This is a known fact and there’s really nothing controversial about it. Two athletes are more likely to produce athletic offspring than two geniuses are to produce genius offspring.

@IterIntellectus everyone who isn't stupid understands intelligence is in large part--genetic. But they will never admit this because it destroys tabula rasa.

Quit thinking in analogies 1. Not all inheritance is Mendelian. A fact for which you should be glad because you don't want a world where 2 geniuses marry and then they give birth to two geniuses one autist and one schizo every time 2. The genes that encode older traits like mass, pigment, and height have been around longer and have had time to escape what is known as an phenotypic plasticity
