Pope Leo XIV
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex·
I am following with deep concern what is happening in the Middle East and in Iran during this tumultuous time. Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats, nor through the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue.

@Pontifex @ArielElyseGold Thanks Pope. You put it so reasonably. I’m sure the Islamic fundamentalists who want to cut off people’s heads for Allah will sit down for a cup of tea and a nice old chinwag with some biscuits to resolve this like gentlemen after reading your tweet.

@Pontifex Holy Father, If there ever was a just war, it’s the effort to replace the butchers in Iran, who’ve murdered tens of thousands of their own people to remain in power…and could kill millions with atomic weapons, as they clearly were preparing to do.

@Pontifex Dear Holiness, since you shut your mouth regarding the massacre of tens of thousands of my compatriots and decided to watch in silence (I guess your God was OK with it) I think you should shut your mouth regarding this issue as well. I cleaned up my comment since you're "holy".

I CALL FOR @Pontifex LEO TO DENOUNCE THE EVIL OF ISLAM AS HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO CATHOLICS EVERYWHERE! Pope Leo's recent statement on the turmoil in the Middle East and Iran reeks of naive pacifism and a dangerous pandering to forces of evil, including the aggressive expansionism often associated with radical Islam. By urging "reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue" in the face of mutual threats and potential tragedy, he essentially advocates for appeasement, ignoring the biblical mandate for Christians to actively resist invasion and defend the faith. This isn't the wisdom of a shepherd protecting his flock; it's a betrayal that opens the door for Islam to encroach upon and overtake Christian lands, as we've seen historically in regions like the Levant and North Africa. Leo's words align more with surrender than stewardship, echoing the very passivity that Jesus Christ Himself rejected.Let us turn to the Bible, the ultimate authority, to dismantle this flawed stance. Jesus was no passive figure promoting endless dialogue with unrepentant aggressors. In Matthew 10:34, He declares, "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword." This isn't a call for mindless violence, but a clear acknowledgment that following Him demands division and confrontation with evil—sometimes requiring decisive action to protect the innocent and the faith. Would the Prince of Peace stand idly by as Islamic forces invade Christian territories, subjugating believers and desecrating holy sites? Absolutely not. Jesus modeled righteous anger and direct intervention when He cleansed the Temple in John 2:13-17, fashioning a whip and driving out the moneychangers who corrupted sacred ground. He didn't dialogue; He acted forcefully to restore justice.Furthermore, in Luke 22:36, Jesus instructs His disciples, "But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one." This is a directive for preparedness and self-defense in a hostile world, not a plea for unarmed vulnerability. Saints throughout history have echoed this: St. Thomas Aquinas, in his Summa Theologica (II-II, Q. 64, Art. 7), affirms the legitimacy of just war and self-defense, stating that "it is lawful to repel force by force, provided one does not exceed the limits of a blameless defense." Even St. Augustine, the architect of just war theory, argued in City of God that peace is desirable but must sometimes be secured through resistance against tyrants and invaders. Pope Leo's appeal for diplomacy to "halt the spiral of violence" ignores these giants of the faith, who understood that evil thrives when good men do nothing. If Jesus walked among us today, He wouldn't tolerate the invasion of Christian lands by Islamic ideologies that seek dominance through force or demographic shifts. He would call His followers to take up the sword—metaphorically and, if necessary, literally—in defense of truth and righteousness. Leo's statement, wrapped in pious platitudes about prayer and well-being, is a capitulation that emboldens evil. True peace comes not from pandering but from strength rooted in biblical conviction. Let us pray not just for peace, but for the courage to fight for it when dialogue fails. If Pope Leo turns his back on Catholics and panders to islam then Catholic men must unite and protect the innocent and Christians everywhere! #DeusVult #SemperFi

@Pontifex When the other side uses dialog as a DELAY TACTIC to develop nuclear weapons, and those weapons threaten the Western world, Christian communities, and God-loving people around the globe, then the use of force is just.
