@POConnor40 Here is a camera shot from said construction zone that was just used in the recap video. I think it would have been cool to find a way to use it for the live broadcast. If it wasn’t feasible, so be it. Same complaint I had for UMD-Hop showing the empty side instead of 12,000 fans

@CoachMattYHS Stupid post. Did you want them to set the cameras up in the construction area?

This is why we need a college lacrosse czar to work on presentation/imaging. 15,000+ people at the Army Navy Game and instead of showing it (and getting people excited about attending a game), they show a construction zone 🤦‍♂️

I still (and will always) think Navy has the best lacrosse fans, but this is awesome. Great work by West Point - need to try and top it next year in Annapolis

@ready3take2 @concirillo I appreciate the detailed responses. Construction zone sounds like it provided unique challenges for this game. My larger point is about the presentation of lacrosse in general. We often show empty bleachers or parking lots, even when there are 10,000+ fans at the stadium

@CoachMattYHS @concirillo All the game cam & all22 broadcast infrastructure is run to the existing press box side. There may be a reverse 50 or slash position in the new build but that wouldn’t be run or tested at this point in construction

@ScottStras @PhilButtafuoco No one is taking a shot at Army - it’s awesome they drew 15,000. But I had multiple lax parents ask me why the stadium was empty (got the same question about MD-Hop last year when they had 12,000). If that is the impression that new fans have, then we need to change something

It's not that hard to figure out. There is no place to broadcast from that side.

@PhilButtafuoco @ScottStras This wasn’t meant as a shot at Army. Despite being a Navy guy through and through, Michie is still one of my favorite places to watch a game. It’s about how we as a lacrosse community are not properly capturing big game atmosphere to attract new fans/viewers/attendees

@DrunkOldGrad What part? I’ve been to these games in HS and as a Mid (they’re amazing). Despite being a USNA grad, I still think Michie is one of the best places in the world to watch a lacrosse game. I just don’t think the broadcast captured that (and we see similar issues at MD, DU, LU, etc)

@coachruntheball The construction is mostly done (the below pic is from two months ago). Very easy to setup one or two cameras there. They could also have used a crane, sky cam or drone. The problem isn’t the ability to do it, it’s that broadcasting the atmosphere is not prioritized for lacrosse

@CoachMattYHS Hey Matt, first time replier- have you ever thought that maybe they wouldn’t broadcast from the middle of the construction site instead of the football press box? I mean have some common sense. Thanks.

@concirillo They shot from the normal press box. They certainly could have put cameras on the opposite side (bleachers, crane/lift, etc.) if they wanted to. The problem isn’t unique to this game - it’s the same problem with Maryland broadcasts - they show the empty side for convenience
