YouGov / Sky / Times voting intention RefUK 23%(-2) LAB 19%(+2) CON 17%(nc), GRN 18%(-1) LDEM 13%(-1) Pollster note: While changes are all within the margin of error, this does put the Greens back into third place (presumably as the publicity impact of Denton & Gorton gradually recedes).

@LucasWard_ What these graphs also don't convey is the absolute stonking degree of uncertainty at play, reforms seats could plausibly between 150-450 or something absurd

I don’t understand how proportional representation isn’t the biggest talking point in British politics right now. How can anyone look at this and believe our democracy is functioning properly?

Starship is on Raptor 3 and still no where close to mission ready. Since 1981, a total of 46 RS-25s were used for the 135 Shuttle launches and what is coming up on the 2nd Artemis flight. Starship threw away more than that in only 2 flights.

@rawdawgcomics @IterIntellectus Not even that, this is a sensationalized article being misrepresented to laypeople, experts in the field already do this stuff because they're not stupid, it's just not very effective long-term on large populations of people.

@IterIntellectus "We are going to cure so many diseases" Haha. I admire your optimism but no the pharmaceutical companies and medical industry is going to regulate this. AI is going to be handicapped in the only few ways it actually benefits people because money gatekeeps progress

this is actually insane > be tech guy in australia > adopt cancer riddled rescue dog, months to live > not_going_to_give_you_up.mp4 > pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA > feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold > zero background in biology > identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets > design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch > genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own > need ethics approval to administer it > red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine > 3 months, finally approved > drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection > tumor halves > coat gets glossy again > dog is alive and happy > professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?” one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline. we are going to cure so many diseases. I dont think people realize how good things are going to get

@PatrickHeizer floodgates arguments are weak at the best of times but don't hold any water whatsoever for people (or pets) whose causes of death may be bureaucratic regulatory friction and institutionalized market failure preventing science based treatment of their underlying conditions

Sorry to be the downer because this is an impressive story in some senses. But it is ~trivially easy to make a single mRNA vaccine. It's not hard. I cure mice of various cancers with various therapeutics all the time. I've made mice lose more weight in a month than tirzepatide does in a year. What is hard and expensive is proving its BOTH safe AND effective **in a randomized and controlled study in humans** while ALSO manufacturing it at clinical scale and grade. I am happy for this man and his dog. It is impressive. But y'all are overhyping it.

David Lammy will lose his seat to the Green Party. London can let go of these MPs who have protected power and wealth - and vote for a Green Party rooted in communities. Help make it happen: Join.greenparty.org.uk

It is in our national interest that the disgusting Iranian regime is overthrown. Iran is the head of the snake. The regime has waged a proxy war on Britain for decades. It is naïve and dangerous to suggest we shouldn’t be offering support to those trying to resist it. Britain is not safe whilst the Iranian regime lives on. Keir Starmer’s decision to block the United States from using British airbases makes us less secure. History will not be kind to the Prime Minister. When he had the chance to show leadership, he ran away. Standing on the sidelines is unforgivable.
Reza Pahlavi@PahlaviReza

My dear compatriots, Decisive moments lie before us. The assistance that the President of the United States had promised to the brave people of Iran has now arrived. This is a humanitarian intervention, and its target is the Islamic Republic, its apparatus of repression, and its machinery of killing—not the country and great nation of Iran. However, despite the arrival of this assistance, the final victory will still be achieved by us. It is we, the people of Iran, who will finish this task in this final battle. The time to return to the streets is approaching. Now that the Islamic Republic is collapsing, my message to the country’s military, law enforcement, and security forces is clear: You have sworn an oath to protect Iran and the Iranian nation, not the Islamic Republic and its leaders. Your duty is to defend the people, not to defend a regime that has taken our homeland hostage through repression and crime. Join the nation and help ensure a stable and secure transition. Otherwise, you will sink with Khamenei’s ship and his crumbling regime. And my message to the President of the United States, President Trump, is this: The honorable people of Iran, despite the brutal repression and killings carried out by this regime, stood bravely for nearly two months. I now ask you to exercise the utmost possible caution to preserve the lives of civilians and my compatriots. The people of Iran are your natural allies and the allies of the free world, and they will not forget your assistance during the most difficult period of Iran’s contemporary history. And to you, my dear compatriots in Iran: In these sensitive hours and days, more than ever we must remain focused on our ultimate goal: reclaiming Iran. I ask you, for now, to remain in your homes and remain calm and safe. Stay alert and ready to return to the streets for the final action at the appropriate time, which I will communicate to you. Follow my messages through social media and satellite media. If disruptions occur in the internet and satellite broadcasts, I will remain in contact with you via radio. We are very close to final victory. I hope to be with you as soon as possible so that together we may reclaim Iran and rebuild it. Long live Iran. Reza Pahlavi

🚨The problem with this strategy now is not just that it didn’t work, it’s that they can never use it again. If you come 3rd in one of your safest seats you don’t really get to play the tactical voting card.

@leninology I think modeling for emergent parties is really hard. Balancing for voter likelyhood, turn out etc. It is easy to both underestimate and overestimate. Because there simply isn't enough data to get a good picture on voter behaviour.

Wake up call for @UKLabour If Labour needed any further wake up calls - this is clearly one. Labour need to now ditch the gimmicks and get back to being Labour - not new, not one that plays games, but real Labour. Workers and families are hurting. We have a cost of living crisis largely being ignored and investment in jobs for the here-and-now being blocked by a Treasury that doesn't seem to understand the basics of what is needed to build Britain. Stop listening your rich mates and start listening to everyday people. -#GortonDentonByElection
