But now that Mr. Swapan Dasgupta is his opponent, who is a graduate of St. Stephen’s, with a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London, and a former Junior Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford, TMC has decided to elevate Kumar, and his present qualifications are listed as: Master of Commerce (MCom, 2021) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB, 2024), both from MATS University, Chhattisgarh. It is commendable that Mr. Kumar suddenly felt the urge to pursue education at the age of 60 and that too from a state that the party and its supporters endlessly ridicule. That is perhaps the most ironic part about TMC supporters. Apart from the fact that, during a recent ED raid at Kumar’s house, gold and diamond jewelry worth crores were allegedly found, it is also quite interesting how Mr. Kumar, a resident of Kolkata, couldn’t find a single university in Bengal to fulfill his sudden urge for education.

The corruption that has been carried out in the last 15 years by this aunt-nephew duo is unprecedented in the history of West Bengal. The money which belongs to the hard-working (Kheta khaowa) Bengalis has systematically been robbed by the Banerjee family and its stooges. The list of their sins doesn't end here. The weaponisation of political violence, ostracism of people who don't vote for TMC, scams leading to loss of jobs in the government sector (2016 SSC case), fake social engineering (OBC fraud), institutional capture (getting TMC goons recruited as civil police volunteers), othering of non-Bengalis (playing on insecurity of people and pitting them against 'outsiders'), large-scale unemployment susbsided through freebies (loans taken to fund them), pushing the State into extreme debt, doing rabid appeasement politics that have bolstered radical religious extremists in West Bengal and many more. This is the pillar on which Mamata and her nephew's regime stands today. When she was elected in 2011, I was elated. I had hopes that the fortunes of West Bengal (a State close to every Bengali's heart) would change forever. While we wished for the best, it turned out to be the worst. People make mistakes, but it is important to learn from them. Tomorrow is the day of judgment! It is sometimes unbelievable how Mamata and Abhishek (in particular) have enriched themselves while the middle-class Bengali is forced to leave his/her ageing parents in West Bengal and find a source of livelihood in other States. Bengalis will change their destiny this time by kicking out this 'Durnitibaj' Pishi and Bhaipo from the corridors of power.
