I predict peptides will change everything re public health discourse for health & disease. B/c they’re closer to medications (in many cases actual medications!) than supplements but they entered the picture in supplement-like fashion. HRT went the other direction. Get educated.

David Sinclair's lab is using AI to build a pill that reverses aging for $100. Right now, their gene therapy costs roughly $10 million to manufacture. It requires a direct injection into the target organ. That's not going to work for 8 billion people. So Sinclair's team made a breakthrough. They found that the three age-reversal genes aren't the only path to resetting cells. They discovered CHEMICALS that do the same thing. In mice, they can now give an animal a liquid — not genes, not injections, a drink — and rejuvenate tissues in 4 weeks. Sinclair says it's now normal for his students to casually report: "We just rejuvenated the ear. We just rejuvenated the skin. We just cured ALS (motorneuron disease) in these animals." He calls his lab "Willy Wonka's chocolate factory" because the discoveries blow him away every week. But he wants one molecule that does everything. So they used AI to screen 8 BILLION candidates. They're now down to three molecules that work. And they're using AI to try to combine all three into one. The gene therapy could cost over $100,000 per treatment. Sinclair's goal: "What if it could be $100 instead? That's what I'm working for. I want to democratize this technology so anyone even in Kenya can take these medicines." They should know within a year or two if the molecules work in mice. The gene therapy is the proof of concept. The pill is the endgame. — @davidasinclair

This morning a dog sent me to the ground mid-workout. The owner’s reaction was somehow worse than the fall. I love dogs. This isn’t about the dog. Rep 11 of 16x800m on a track. Running 5:20 pace. An off leash Doberman comes out of nowhere and levels me. Both knees scraped. Both hands scraped. Hip badly bruised. The owner kept walking. Didn’t even turn around. I got up, caught up to her, and asked her to please leash her dog or leave the track. She called me entitled. I moved to the road. Finished every remaining rep. Added one more for the one she cost me. She tried to end my workout. She gave me an extra rep instead.

A few nutrition changes/experiments I’m running lately: • Eat 3/4 of the day’s calories before dinner Target right now is 3,500–3,800/day, so ~2,400–2,800 pre-dinner. Places more calories around am workout and doesn’t leave me “compensating” at night or going to bed too full. • Swap some protein for carbs Naturally I’ll eat way more than 1g/lb body weight, so I’m trying to cut protein intake by 40–70 grams per day by replacing a serving of meat/eggs at a meal with a carb/starch (I’ll still eat >1 g/lb with this approach).

I've been saying this for years. My goal is to teach my kids how to be financially self-sufficient by the time they're 18. If they want to use their money to go to college "for the experience," that's their decision. 0% chance legacy education keeps up w/ technology.

There is a 99% chance my kids will not go to college. If they want to go, then cool. But I don't see the point in going to college or any form of traditional schooling, given where the world is headed.
