I finally caved and got my 13 year old an iPad after watching his social life disappear w/out access to iMessages. His friends were making plans to ride bikes or play football but he wasn't ever included because he wasn't in the chat. An Apple device was a necessary evil



My most Ted Cruz-like opinion is that we are now stuck with too many dumb tax-advantaged savings accounts and should probably just consolidate all of them into one, if at all possible.

People realizing what Americans want is a progressive consumption tax. You get an exempt amount of consumption (standard deduction), rates rise progressively, but you’re not taxed on anything you save.
