@dugmartsch @Eric_Erins I mean the nice thing about the strategy is you can always go get a job and make more money if you choose to tho? Especially if you are perfectly healthy in your 50/60s, whats the big deal

@CoachPapaJohn i think average value of contracts is a dumb way to look at players, but fwiw, some positions you can get in free agency and some you can't. If you need a qb, you need to draft that guy, good ones don't leave town. If you need a running back, great ones are available all the time

The whole positional value debate being rehashed every year is insane because it really feels like literally no one is arguing in good faith about how the game of football has swung to the other end of the pendulum in terms of valuing spine as much as perimeter

@CharlesWil45341 @Vidor1 @DastDn i mean the war *wasn't* lost, main land france was lost. The allies were still in the war, and the french could have fought on (and many rightly did!)

@Vidor1 @DastDn For what, realizing the war was lost and doing the right thing by trying to get a peace negotiated?

France gets a lot of (unfair but deeply entertaining) shit for its rapid surrender in WW2, when instead it should be mocked for mythologizing the practically non-existent "La Resistance" during the occupation.

@Devin_J_Monahan they've fired more 4 stars in the last 2 years than all of post-ww2 history combined. While losing a war for no reason

In the middle of a war is actually an extremely normal time to fire senior war-leaders. During peace-time, the rot builds up. Once the rubber hits the road, you pretty quickly start to see who doesn't have what it takes. It's finding who does have it that's the trouble.

We’re in the middle of a pretty important naval blockade standoff with a country we’ve threatened to destroy, so it seems like a weird time for the Secretary of the Navy to abruptly depart. And by “weird” I mean, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

@jmhorp The average IQ of a college student is barely above gen pop. Public school teachers are not any impressive, or more “qualified” to teach children. Children believe just about anything no matter who it comes from.

@michaelhammond_ @TourSwingsTommy the pros actually have some of the most simple building block swings you can have. Most ams have like four minor things in their swing that are wrong, and then add like 3 more things to compensate for those

@Grey_Athena also, we did learn from it! Notice how the carriers are *not* in the Persian gulf where they might get sunk. Riper could have used all the cheats he wanted and still lose if you just use tankers and send the carrier planes in from further away!

@stopdropnskank @MostCrucified i mean you don't have to. But then again Robb doesn't make a lot of very good political decisions lol, he's like if Hannibal had no sense of the divisions of Italian society at all

@headwaysmatter @aarmlovi @captgouda24 @CartoonsHateHer yes you are? Like if i hedge my corn at 5 dollar futures, and corn runs to 7 bucks, yes i have the ability to exit my futures position and sell the cash market, but i have occurred very real costs to do so! Compared to a scenario where i had not hedged that corn

Wow, awesome sample size considering about 40% of super bowls since 2007 have been won by the two best quarterbacks ever. Guess they should just draft tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, it’s that easy (ignore that those teams drafted first round running backs)
Volume Bets@VolumeBets

Yes it is lol it’s why RB salaries on good teams is normally on the low end and normally drafted later. It’s why high paid RBs don’t win superbowls lol Barkley a genuine exception to the rule for a decade now and won it on a diff team. Teams who draft RB in the first 20 picks have a whopping 0 superbowls with that player still on the roster since 2007. It’s a very very easy call ur correct

One interpretation of this is that voters don't actually want wage compression 😬
Tony Annett@tonyannett

Here’s a great chart from @arindube. Wage inequality increased throughout the post-1980 neoliberal era (especially bad under Reagan). But there was a big decline under Biden, whose presidency was vastly underrated and will one day be vindicated.
