@_cbish I say study the topic extensively before preparing the lesson and then just follow the spirit - the spirit isn’t likely to out something in your mind if you didn’t learn it before.

Dear Teachers, Here's the secret to a 25 minute class Don't spend hours preparing the lesson—Spend hours preparing yourself to receive revelation to facilitate the lesson You will always know what to do at any given moment because you are prepared—not the lesson was prepared

@NoblestCalling When speaking assignments fall to me, most weeks I use two speakers. Unless you know one or two will be very short such as youth, new member etc it’s two speakers. The meeting will end on time. 5 minutes early is ok. Worst case bishopric shares a brief thought or testimonies

@JasminRappleye This for sure, is youth centered. Serving in young men’s i absolutely love this. We have been mixing 5-10 min FSY discussion for the past year with our youth when we meet with them, and it’s been the best part of our meetings. Great opportunity for gospel application.

This new church schedule solves so many problems people are not realizing. I've been hearing people concerned that 25 minutes per class isn't enough time, and that is a valid concern. However, I think this could be a game changer for the YOUTH.

I was thinking about this earlier… what will happen when church is shortened to an hour. I’m torn with the church’s drive to make gospel learning happen at home and keeping our faith more community based. A lot of the young men I’ve taught over the years didn’t have Christ centered homes. Church and young men’s was the only time they interacted with the gospel. I’m afraid for them. I’m afraid they’ll be lost in the consequential apathy of these changes if members see this as another way to get out of doing more.

I won’t be surprised if we see 25 min Sacrament 25 min Sunday School 25 min Elders Quorom/Relief Society Here soon

@LDSLaw Or… President Nelson would have the announcement in Sept and waited until then to start as well where President Oaks likes to give a heads up. - both starting in September either way🤷‍♂️

Differences in prophetic style ("differences of administration"): Pres. Oaks has this change being implemented in September. Pres. Nelson would have had this change implemented immediately. Pres. Oaks is a much more cautious, deliberate decision-maker in terms of style and approach.

In advance of the upcoming general conference leadership session (April 2, 2026), The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced upcoming adjustments to the Sunday class meeting schedule to support members in their efforts to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. The adjustments will strengthen gospel learning in homes and congregations throughout the world. Beginning September 6, 2026, the alternating weekly schedule for Sunday School and quorum or class meetings will be replaced. Under the updated schedule: • Sunday School, Relief Society, elders quorum, Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings will be held each week. • Sacrament meeting will continue to be 60 minutes, followed by brief transition periods. • Sunday School and quorum and class meetings will each be 25 minutes. • Primary will continue every Sunday and will be 55 minutes, held while adults and youth attend their respective classes. • Where local circumstances necessitate, units may begin with Primary and quorum and class meetings and conclude with sacrament meeting. @jkimballcook We have done sacrament meetings with 6, 5 min talks. People had to get to the point. No fluff. i think this is better for the youth and likely the biggest driver. It’s hard to capture their attention in Sunday school for 50 min.

Prediction: shorter weekly classes rather than longer classes every other week will not change that much in the average person's church experience we'll have better continuity but lessons will either be shallower or will cover less material

@itschappy Skip the fluff and teach a powerful lesson in 20 min. Way better for Sunday school. Young mens - some, teach the youth how to teach a powerful 15-20 min lesson. This is a win. Adults - you don’t need more time in class - you need more time on your personal study.

Just go back to 3 hour church or shorten sacrament meeting if you want to meet each class/quorum each week… 25 minutes isn’t enough to have a real meaningful lesson in either class.

@Ch_JesusChrist @LatterDay_Dad Honestly, they should just have home church like they did during Covid. There’s so much division now. I really would rather not deal with the crazy lib members every week. 🤷‍♂️ one can dream, right? I mean, how did they do it in ancient times?

Our family welcomed a new child to the world last week. A miracle baby. Like a dream he came and by a dream he was named. Zion grows and Satan groans. This a part of the reason my last few essays have been/are delayed in coming FYI. Big transformations last year for us.

@Latterdaytruth It would be an exception. When your exceptions become the rule, that is usually when you are headed on the path to apostasy or already there.

Do you believe that the Holy Ghost can tell you to do something that is in direct conflict with revelation given through Priesthood channels? If "it depends" or neutral, explain!

@KTMartin25 @Hashboz Yeah, but some end up non-warrantable, which makes it harder to sell and, for that matter, close. I always advise my clients go with a townhome if you can, and have a condo as a backup option. Also, values for condos seem to be last to go up and first to go down.

I’ve been arguing with millennials all day about the perceived “impossibility” of buying a starter home and it baffles me that it’s not a single person has even considered buying a condominium as a starter home. Amazing.
Mahershalalhashbozy@Hashboz

@punished_bobda So buy a condo closer to the city. Condos are nice starter homes.

@KTMartin25 @Hashboz Well… there is more to it than that. Community has to get approved or you have to try and get a spot approval. A lot of condos just don’t meet that guideline and a condo can be fha approved one day and not the next.

It's only hard to get FHA loans in a community where more than 50% of the units are rentals. Ive lived in a community where that was the case. Conventional loans are always an option if you qualify. Many new condo communities put a cap on the number of rentals allowed to prevent issues with getting FHA loans tho.

@Making_of_a_Mom In teachers quorum we spend 5-10 min teaching from it. We could do more, but we try to make a point of discussing and learning. We almost always assign youth talks from it as well.

As someone who has been aloud hater of the new FSY pamphlet, I just went to a beautiful Devotional with Brad Wilcox where he bore a strong testimony and explained everything behind the new FSY pamphlet. It really helped me. If interested, I'll share some notes below:

@Latterdaytruth I try not to, but more than I’d prefer. I have felt impressed to speak once or twice on specific topics, and a few times speakers have backed out last minute or ended early leaving time. So I’ve taken some of those moments as well.

I continue to be astonished at how diametrically opposite folks are in how they interpret current events. There's no way this country survives being two wholly opposite people with two wholly opposite worldviews inhabiting the exact same geographic space. Something's gotta give.
