Today the Supreme Court of India hears the case on the future of Kolkata Tramways. Trams are clean electric mobility, climate friendly and space efficient. Kolkata should modernize and integrate them with metro as feeders, not dismantle them.. @LiveLawIndia

Govt Sources say - * Petrol and Diesel prices are unlikely to increase as we have enough stock. Unless crude oil prices breach USD 130, petrol-diesel prices are unlikely to increase. We expect crude oil prices to be around $100 per barrel. * No problem of shortage of petrol and diesel at any pump in the country * We have accelerated crude sourcing from routes outside the Strait of Hormuz * India has enough stock of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) * India is a producer and exporter of ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel), no need to panic about ATF * India is better placed than other countries. Many countries have approached India for taking stock

@ShivamVahia @RichaChadha the point isn't about where one can plant a tree. greenery simply hasn't been factored into the design. i'll wait to see milind milins riding a bike there with regular riders in the heat and humidity of mumbai summer.

Mudar Patherya and the Quiet Revolution in Kolkata’s Urban Soul Mudar Patherya is not a politician, planner, or preservationist by profession, yet his work is quietly reshaping Kolkata’s relationship with its own history. Through a citizen-led illumination movement, he has turned forgotten buildings into glowing landmarks, blending heritage revival with civic pride. Patherya’s initiative, often referred to as The Kolkata Restorers or Calcutta Illumination Project, focuses on: 🌆Illuminating heritage buildings - Over 60 structures lit up. ⛲Restoring colonial gravestones and water bodies - Breathing life into neglected corners of the city 💈Decorating electricity boxes - Turning mundane infrastructure into neighborhood storytelling devices 💰Crowdfunding - Mobilizing citizens through digital platforms to fund and execute restorations His work is not just aesthetic, it’s symbolic. By lighting up buildings like Raj Bhavan, old clock towers, synagogues, and markets, he’s making history visible after sunset. Patherya’s impact goes beyond beautification: Civic engagement - Residents now see heritage as a shared responsibility, not just a government task. Night-time identity - Kolkata’s post-sunset skyline now tells stories, not just shows silhouettes. Neighborhood pride - Local communities feel connected to their surroundings through personalized restoration efforts. Tourism and memory - Illuminated sites attract visitors and rekindle nostalgia among locals. Patherya’s work represents a deeper shift in how cities can be loved: Not through grand plans, but small gestures Not through nostalgia, but active memory-making Not through authority, but shared stewardship His illumination project is a metaphor: in a city often overwhelmed by its own past, he’s showing how light, literal and symbolic, can be a form of healing. To visualize Mudar Patherya’s impact on Kolkata’s heritage, here’s a timeline of illuminated sites that showcase how his citizen-led initiative is transforming the city’s nightscape: 2023: The Spark Maniktala Market Dome - The first dome lit up by Patherya and his group, marking the birth of the Kolkata Restorers movement. 2024: Expansion Begins Raj Bhavan - The Governor’s House glows with golden light, symbolizing civic pride. St. Paul’s Cathedral - A landmark of colonial architecture now visible after sunset. New Market Clock Tower - Restored and illuminated, bringing back its historical charm. 2025: Momentum Builds Queen’s Mansion - A twin-towered colonial structure now bathed in warm light. Portuguese Church (Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary) - Burrabazar’s spiritual landmark shines anew. Ball of Crystal Building - A lesser-known gem now a glowing centerpiece of guided night tours. Dalhousie BBD Bagh Zone - Multiple colonial facades lit up, including AG Bengal and other commercial buildings. How This Changes Kolkata Night-time identity - Kolkata now sparkles like Paris at night, with heritage buildings becoming visual anchors. Citizen ownership - Residents contribute ₹500–₹1000 to light up their local landmarks, creating emotional investment. Tourism and storytelling - Guided night tours now include these glowing sites, turning history into experience.

@MohunBaganiSD @KolkataPlus @AAI_Official It's not hard to connect the dots on why central govt probably doesn't want to privatise ccu maa Not like there are no potential buyers *wink. Both states are oppn ruled. Good for some to keep these 2 airports at low quality. And state ruling parties cannot demand privatisation😌

@KolkataPlus @AAI_Official Not to sound negative, but CCU should be privatised. Every major airports except Chennai & Kolkata have been privatised and they are doing well. There is massive difference in quality of service. The only reason why the govt. is blocking privatisation is due to labour unions.

@tathagata2 No. It's all about economics. European careers to Kolkata will not be able to do turnaround in a day. They cannot maintain a daily schedule. But of course most flights to south east asia should be there.. but then the airport will need to be privatized or Greenfield new airport.

“Travel Agents Association of India chairman (East) Anjani Dhanuka feels Bengal would have stood first in international arrivals if there were more international flights to the Kolkata airport. "Mumbai has 516 international flight arrivals daily, while Delhi has 590 international arrivals against just 51 in Kolkata.” But why so few flights to Kolkata? Because the capital of crazy Mamataland is on nobody’s wish list. And this tall talk about international tourists visiting Kolkata is so much BS.

No signs or update after that. The status is not visible on the Mumbai Police website too. @MumbaiPolice please help.
