Permanently protecting California’s ag lands! 🌾 The California Strategic Growth Council and California Department of Conservation, in partnership with the @RangelandTrust, is celebrating the conservation of more than 4,100 acres of agricultural lands in Calaveras and Merced counties! The two projects received a total of nearly $4 million from the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Program (SALC), which uses funding through California’s Cap-and-Invest Program to protect critical agricultural lands that are at risk of being converted into more energy intensive uses. Protecting these lands promotes smart growth within existing jurisdictions, contributes to our 30x30 goals by ensuring open space remains available, supports agricultural and Tribal food systems, promotes biodiversity and soil health, and helps sequester climate change-causing emissions. ➡️ Learn more about SALC: sgc.ca.gov/grant-programs… ➡️ Learn more about 30x30: californianature.ca.gov
