It’s Wildfire Preparedness Week! 🧯 From April through October, wildfire risk is at its highest, but preparation can make all the difference. At LCI, we’re working with the Wildfire & Forest Resilience Task Force to help communities get ready before disaster strikes. Through the Task Force, we’ve developed key tools to support local planning and safety: • Fire Hazard Planning Technical Advisory • Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Planning Guide • Evacuation Planning Guidance • Biomass & Fuel Reduction Pilots across 18 counties 🔥 These resources help communities plan smarter, reduce risk, and protect lives and property. 📲 Explore tools and take steps to prepare: wildfiretaskforce.org Task Force partners include: @CAwildfireTF @CAL_FIRE @CaliforniaEPA @Cal_OES @CalNatResources @USDA @forestservice @CAStateParks @mypubliclands @CSAC_Counties @CARuralCounties @AirResources @CalConservation and more. #WildfireReady #PreparedNotScared #FireSafety #WildfireResilience #FireSafeCommunities

🌾$45.5M invested to protect California’s agricultural lands! The California Strategic Growth Council today approved more than $45.5 million through the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program to conserve 17,381 acres of croplands and rangelands across 16 counties. 🌿 What this means: • Protecting farmland from development • Supporting local food systems & agricultural economies • Preserving wildlife habitats & biodiversity • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾Honoring Tribal stewardship Three projects will return or provide access to land for California Native American Tribes—supporting cultural practices, traditional agriculture, and long-term land stewardship. 🌎 Big climate impact These projects are expected to reduce emissions by over 1.3 million metric tons of CO₂—the equivalent of removing 300,000+ cars from the road for a year. 💬 “By returning land to Tribes and protecting productive farmlands, SALC is essential to resilience and achieving California’s climate goals,” — SGC Executive Director Erin Curtis. ✨ Investing in land, communities, and a more sustainable future for California. The Sustainable Agricultural Lands Program (SALC), which uses funding through California's Cap-and-Invest Program to protect critical agricultural lands that are at risk of being converted into more energy intensive uses. Protecting these lands promotes smart growth within existing jurisdictions, contributes to our 30x30 goals by ensuring open space remains available, supports agricultural and Tribal food systems, promotes biodiversity and soil health, and helps sequester climate change-causing emissions. → Learn more about SALC: sgc.ca.gov/grant- programs/salc → Learn more about 30x30: californianature.ca.gov → Read the full press release here: sgc.ca.gov/newsroom/press… @CalConservation #CaliforniaClimate #FarmlandConservation #TribalLandBack #SustainableCommunities #ClimateAction
