Open Letter to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier:
Nowruz, the ancient Persian New Year rooted in over 2,500 years of history, is a unifying cultural celebration shared across ethnicities, religions, and borders—including Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kurdish regions, and the global Iranian diaspora.
Recognized by UNESCO as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage, Nowruz represents hope, renewal, unity, and resilience.
But this year, millions of Iranians marked Nowruz under the shadow of grief, repression, and fear—after decades of systemic oppression, arbitrary arrests, torture, and executions by the Islamic Republic, with recent months reaching new levels of suffering.
We, the Patriotic Doctors of Iran, call on German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to officially recognize Nowruz and issue a public message of solidarity.
Such recognition is not only cultural, it is a powerful political signal of support for the Iranian people and diaspora, who stand united in their demand for freedom, democracy, human rights, and dignity.
Germany knows the meaning of liberation.
Now is the moment to stand with the people of Iran.

📢 Patriotic Doctors of Iran Urge Germany to Support the Iranian People
Today, 81 Iranian physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world issued an open letter to Germany’s leadership.
We express deep concern about Germany’s current diplomatic approach toward the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As stated in the letter:
• The regime is on the verge of collapse
• Negotiations with its officials prolong the suffering of the Iranian people
• Such talks are ineffective and hinder efforts toward freedom
The Iranian people, both inside the country and in the diaspora, are united in their demand for change.
They view current military actions, supported by the U.S. and Israel, as a step toward weakening the regime.
The letter also highlights:
Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as the prominent opposition leader with a plan for democratic transition, supported by a network prepared to help rebuild Iran.
We call on Germany to:
✔ Support the Iranian people’s right to determine their future
✔ Take a clear stance aligned with freedom and international responsibility
A future democratic Iran can become a reliable partner in science, industry, and energy.

🚨 Joint Statement by Iranian Medical Organizations on the Reported Torture and Sexual Violence Against Two Nurses in Iran
We strongly condemn credible reports that two Iranian nurses from Rajaei Heart Center were arrested for treating injured protesters and subjected to torture and repeated sexual violence in custody.
This is not an isolated case, it reflects a broader pattern of systematic abuse against healthcare workers in Iran.
These acts constitute grave violations of:
•International human rights law
•Medical neutrality
•Fundamental medical ethics
Targeting healthcare professionals for fulfilling their duty is a direct attack on the integrity of medicine and the right to health.
We call on the UN, WHO, and global human rights and medical institutions to:
• Launch an immediate, independent international investigation
• Ensure accountability for perpetrators
• Protect healthcare workers in Iran from retaliation
• Guarantee medical and psychological care for victims
• Support documentation of abuses for legal action
Silence enables impunity.
The global medical community must stand with Iranian healthcare workers.

Open Letter – Urgent Request to Address Alleged Editorial Bias and Censorship in VOA Persian Service
Members of the Patriotic Doctors of Iran (PDI), a network of Iranian physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals supporting the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy, have sent the attached open letter to USAGM leadership expressing serious concern about editorial practices in VOA Persian.
Evidence and firsthand reports indicate patterns of selective coverage, bias, and apparent censorship that contradict the VOA Charter’s principles of objective journalism and comprehensive news coverage.
Key concerns include:
1. Systematic exclusion of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and his supporters:
Reports from VOA Persian staff, including the dismissal of journalist Ahmad Batebi after reportedly refusing directives to omit references to Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi—suggest deliberate minimization or omission of coverage related to him.
2. Suppression of a major segment of protesters and their political aspirations:
Millions of Iranians recognize Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as a prominent advocate for secular democracy, human rights, national unity, and a peaceful transition from the current regime.
3. Partisan influence incompatible with journalistic integrity:
Public statements and documented positions linked to senior adviser Ali Javanmardi suggest personal or ideological opposition to Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi may have influenced editorial decisions.
The letter urges USAGM to review VOA Persian’s editorial policies, ensure balanced coverage, end selective exclusion, and restore the platform’s integrity as a trusted source for Iranians.

Seventy-five Iranian physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals in the diaspora have signed a joint letter to the U.S. administration supporting a democratic transition in Iran and endorsing Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as a unifying figure for that process.
As doctors bound by the Hippocratic Oath, we cannot remain silent while the Islamic Republic weaponizes medicine—denying care to protesters, imprisoning physicians for treating the wounded, and causing preventable deaths.
A free and democratic Iran will restore dignity, science, and life for its people—and stability for the region.

The Patriotic Doctors of Iran (PDI) and Doctors Against Racism and Anti-Semitism (DARA) express grave concern regarding escalating reports of violence, intimidation, detention, and persecution directed at physicians, healthcare workers, and civilians in Iran.
Our organizations unequivocally condemn violations of the professional independence of physicians and any infringement upon the civil and human rights of medical personnel and patients. Reports of actions by Iranian authorities, including security bodies such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), raise serious concerns regarding violations of the universally recognized principle of medical neutrality.
Medical neutrality is a foundational principle of international humanitarian law and medical ethics. It requires that healthcare professionals be permitted to provide care to the sick and injured without interference, discrimination, intimidation, or reprisal, regardless of a patient's political affiliation or social status. Medical facilities, transport systems, and healthcare personnel must be protected from attack, obstruction, or misuse.
Documented reports from international human rights organizations describe deeply troubling patterns, including hospital raids, the arrest and detention of physicians for treating injured protesters, intimidation of nurses and paramedics, interference with medical care, and the criminalization of routine medical treatment. Such actions undermine the Hippocratic Oath, erode trust in healthcare systems, and endanger public health.
These actions may constitute violations of multiple international legal frameworks, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Geneva Conventions, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which Iran ratified in 1975 and remains legally obligated to uphold.
The World Medical Association (WMA) has also expressed serious concern regarding reports of violence against healthcare personnel in Iran, including arrests of injured protesters within hospitals and detention of physicians for treating patients. The WMA has condemned such actions as violations of medical ethics, human rights, and international law and has called for the immediate protection of healthcare workers and the preservation of medical neutrality.
In light of these developments, we call upon national and international medical associations, licensing authorities, academic medical institutions, humanitarian organizations, and global health bodies to actively uphold their ethical responsibilities o detend medical neutrality and protect healthcare workers from intimidation or retaliatio v state authorities. The alobal medical community has a duty not only to advocate fo patients but also to safeguard the professional independence and physical safety of physicians and medical personnel. Failure to respond to such violations risks normalizing the persecution of healthcare professionals and undermining the ethical foundations of medicine worldwide.
We therefore call for:
The immediate release of all detained physicians, nurses, and healthcare personnel
The cessation of harassment, intimidation, and prosecution of medical professionals for providing car
An end to interference in hospitals and medical facilities
The protection of civilians and patients seeking medical treatment
Full compliance with international humanitarian and human rights obligations
Medical ethics must never be subordinated to political coercion. The act of healing must never be criminalized. No physician should face imprisonment, violence, or death for fulfilling their ethical duty to treat the wounded.
We stand in solidarity with the courageous physicians, nurses, paramedics, and citizens of Iran. We call upon the global medical community, international institutions, and governments to defend medical neutrality, ensure accountability for violations, and support the protection of healthcare workers.

In the Name of Freedom, Justice, and Human Dignity
To the Esteemed Jewish People,
the Government of Israel,
and the Government of the United States of America,
We, the members of the Patriotic Doctors of Iran, hereby express our profound gratitude for your steadfastness and support for the people of Iran. For nearly 47 years, the Iranian nation has struggled for freedom, justice, and popular sovereignty. In recent months, since December, our people have once again taken to the streets with empty hands and have been met with repression and bloodshed.
As Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has emphasized, we seek the establishment of a democratic and secular government in Iran - a government in which all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, or belief, are equal before the law and enjoy equal rights. Our goal is to establish a system founded on the will of the people, the rule of law, and respect for human dignity.
We view your support as a step toward assisting a nation whose only demand is freedom and the ability to express its aspirations peacefully. Actions aimed at weakening the instruments of repression are, in our view, not directed against the Iranian people, but rather in support of them and in the interest of restoring balance to their struggle.
We see this solidarity as an extension of the historic bond between our two peoples. Just as Cyrus the Great is remembered in history for granting freedom and protection to the Jewish people, we believe that this partnership and support in 2026 will likewise be recorded in history - as a moment when the people of Israel stood alongside the people of Iran. This historical and human connection will undoubtedly endure in the pages of history.
We sincerely thank the Government of the United States and the Government of Israel for their support and hope that this solidarity will help pave the way for the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iran. Our aspiration is a future in which a free Iran lives in peace and peaceful coexistence with all neighboring countries, including Israel, and with the entire world.
Long Live Iran

To the United Nations,
On behalf of Patriotic Doctors of Iran, we formally address this letter to express our grave concern regarding ongoing crimes against humanity in Iran and the continued diplomatic engagement with representatives of the Islamic Republic in United Nations forums.
Crimes against humanity are being committed in Iran.
Replacing one official of the Islamic Republic with another does not alter this reality.
Granting a platform to representatives of this regime risks conferring legitimacy on a system credibly accused of executing protesters, conducting arbitrary mass arrests, torturing detainees, and systematically repressing its own population.
Peaceful demonstrators have been shot in the streets. Families have reportedly been forced to pay so-called "bullet fees" to retrieve the bodies of those killed. Detainees have faced sham trials, torture, and in some cases execution.
As physicians, we are particularly alarmed by the systematic targeting of the healthcare sector. International human rights organizations have documented raids on hospitals, the detention of physicians and nurses for treating injured civilians, and threats or prosecution against healthcare workers for fulfilling their ethical duty to provide care without discrimination.
Patients have been denied safe access to essential medical services. Many wounded individuals have avoided hospitals out of fear of arrest or retaliation, resulting in preventable morbidity and mortality. The criminalization of medical care constitutes a grave violation of medical neutrality and fundamental humanitarian principles. It undermines public trust in health institutions, disrupts continuity of care, and deepens an already severe public health crisis.
These are not isolated incidents but patterns of systematic abuse.
The Human Rights Council was established to hold violators accountable, not to provide them with international legitimacy. Extending or maintaining invitations to officials of a government facing credible allegations of executions, torture, sexual violence, and systemic repression raises serious concerns about consistency with the Council's mandate.
Diplomacy must not shield perpetrators at the expense of victims.
Iranians inside and outside the country expect the United Nations to act in accordance with its founding principles and to stand clearly and publicly against crimes against humanity.
There is no neutral ground in the face of such violations.
In defence of human dignity,
Patriotic Doctors of Iran

Dear Members of the European Parliament,

Dear Members of the United States Congress,

Dear Representatives of the United Nations,
@antonioguterres
We write to you following the mass killings of January 8-9, 2026, during which more than 50,000 civilians were reportedly killed and thousands injured, detained, or permanently harmed by forces of the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
These acts constitute crimes against humanity under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and serious violations of binding international human rights law, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, particularly the right to life (Article 6), the prohibition of torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment (Article 7), and the right of peaceful assembly (Article 21).
Under the Charter of the United Nations, Member States are committed to promoting human rights, peace, and the principle of self-determination of peoples. The international community therefore bears a legal and moral responsibility not to remain silent in the face of mass atrocity crimes.
We respectfully call upon democratic governments and international institutions to:
1. Support an independent international investigation into the January events.
2. Publicly affirm the Iranian people's right to self-determination.
3. Engage in dialogue with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as a prominent advocate for democratic transition.
4. Support a peaceful transition process culminating in free and fair elections under international supervision.
We further respectfully ask you to endorse and sign this letter as a clear commitment to international law, accountability, democratic legitimacy, and peace.
Support peace. Stand with the people of Iran.
The future of Iran must be determined by its people - freely, democratically, and without coercion.
Respectfully,

Sehr geehrter Herr Bundesminister Dr. Wadephul,
Patriotic Doctors of Iran

We have received with great concern and firm objection the information that Mr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been invited to speak at the High-Level Segment of the UN Human Rights Council.
This invitation is entirely unacceptable to us. Mr. Araghchi does not represent the Iranian people; he represents a regime that is responsible for grave and systematic human rights violations. In January of this year alone, more than 50,000 people were killed within just two days. In addition, hundreds of thousands have been injured, tens of thousands imprisoned and tortured and death sentences continue to be carried out on an almost daily basis. Such a regime must not be granted an international platform - especially not within a body whose core mandate is the protection of human rights.
This invitation is particularly contradictory given that Iranian diplomats have been banned from entering official buildings of the European Parliament and institutional relations have increasingly been restricted. Furthermore, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has recently been designated as a terrorist entity. Granting a speaking platform to a senior representative of this very system sends a deeply troubling political and moral message.
Providing a podium to representatives of this regime disregards the victims, the imprisoned, the families of those killed, and all those in Iran who risk their lives for freedom, dignity, and fundamental rights.
We therefore urgently call for:
The immediate withdrawal of the invitation to Mr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi from the program of the UN Human Rights Council;
The cessation of any institutional legitimization or public platform for representatives of this regime in human rights forums;
A clear and unequivocal stance in support of the Iranian people and universal human rights.
The UN Human Rights Council must not become a platform for perpetrators. Credibility, moral responsibility, and respect for the victims require decisive action.
We await your clear response.
