Yesterday I stopped by the League of Oregon Cities delegation meeting to hear from our local governments and youth councils about what their cities need and how I can advocate for them in Congress.

Today I signed onto @rosadelauro's discharge petition so that the branches of DHS like FEMA, TSA and the Coast Guard, which are critical to safety along the Oregon coast and disaster relief in this country, are paid for their essential work. I will not vote to fund parts of DHS that are doing blatantly unconstitutional things.

Oregon was the first state to have universal vote by mail which was supported by Democrats and Republicans. The Constitution is clear: determining time, place and manner of elections is up to the states. For the 900,000 women in Oregon who changed their name after marriage, the need to provide documentation to re-register costs time, money and will disenfranchise eligible voters from casting a ballot. The SAVE act is voter suppression, pure and simple.

To strong women: May we know them, may we raise them, may we be them. On International Women’s Day, we must remember that we are most powerful when we stand together and speak up for what’s right.

Kristi Noem’s firing is long overdue. The first amendment of the Constitution prohibits state-sponsored religion and protects religious freedom.
