@olivercampbell Somebody who'd know about iFixit is not their target audience for this. Someone dipping their toe into PC gaming is. You tell that person they need to remove the whole heatsink, day one, because they wanted to save money? That's simply not a smart play. A headache for everyone.

Linus Tech Tips believes the PS5 offers better value than the new Steam Machine at current prices. According to Linus, a $600 PS5 or $900 PS5 Pro is a better buy than a $1,049 Steam Machine, especially since both PlayStation consoles include a controller. “You can still buy a PS5 for $600 or a PS5 Pro for $900… and both include a controller.” — Linus Tech Tips

1. Not a console 2. Use literally any controller you want 3. Don't need to buy it to play Steam games 4. Don't need to pay a monthly/annual subscription to play online 5. Can download the OS for free on any PC you want

Linus Tech Tips builds a computer for the same price as the Steam Machine, with almost double the performance. What is the point of this thing again?

I love Steam, but $1,349 is getting into “build a really nice gaming PC” territory. The Steam Machine has to offer something special beyond convenience. Am I missing something here?

Alo :)

The "my PC outperforms the Steam Machine" living room:

Do the people complaining about the steam cube even know how expensive it can be to build a small form factor pc
