If you have a blue tick you're paying for a free service. If you pay for a free service, and it isn't a charity then you're not some badass bro you're a bum.

@Virlylestarina As much as i love the look of real slate, the weight and repairs from cracked slate after hail is something i would hate to deal with. I would rather get a metal roof that looks like slate instread.

What do you think of this person's roof? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

@Virlylestarina I think copper in the valleys would be a cool contrast as it patinas into green. What actually wears out in this style roof?

I see shopfronts are 'doing numbers' (do they still say that?) Here are some REAL ones i've worked on over the last few years. It's a lot of work with private owners and working with individual buildings rather than just a generic copy/paste approach helps maintain character.

One of the few things that makes the utter penury of archaeology worthwhile is the privileged access to private areas of buildings. I was recently allowed into the 1430s arch-braced roof space which was once visible from the hall of the George Inn at Norton St Philip (Somerset).

A few weeks ago an ad for Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High popped up on my personal Facebook page. So I went. So you wouldn’t have to. I have no problem with spendy restaurants. It just has to be worth it. ft.com/content/40a07c…

So... the council listing Colette Goulding as an alternate for the committee was an error, and sitting with the public and not contributing counts towards her attendance record. TLDR: Goulding keeps her seat for another six months. That's £7,000 of councillor allowance...

@TourGuideLiverp @fesshole Yeah. It is a council thing in Aus. Whether on your property or the verge (nature strip) there’s usually rules of times and placement. Arseh0le agents always push the limits knowing enforcement is usually slack, all so their ugly mugs get free billboard time for longer.

Had our drive done. The guy who did it left an ad board at the front to show it off. After 9 months I moved it. Three months later, the guy's just been round asking if his team had picked it up. "Well it's not here" I said. And it's not. I took it went to the tip two weeks ago.

@c0n_AU @fesshole This seems to be a private matter between you and the estate agent. Not the Councils responsibility.

@davidallenwest The thing is, once a rare earth metal has been mined it can be recycled and recycled. Its a one-off extraction cost. That petroleum you burn is a one-shot and gone and you need to extract more.

@thomasforth This is perhaps one of your most salient points - permission for sensible conversion is almost always given - yet the amount of developers who claim 'heritage issues' is mad.

4/ Arson is bad. Undermines honest business. Sets bad precedent. Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, etc... will always give permission for conversion of these buildings with reasonable conditions. This building in Manchester had that. So it's frustrating if it was arson. We don't know.

@ross_baglin @BearJFK It's a statuatory service meaning the Council have to fund it by law and if they don't or do it badly they can get sued.

@BearJFK Genuine question - is adult social care legitimately a council tax priority and is it more important for local councils than basic infrastructure and public realm including law and order ? How does one assess priorities like that ?

@BeanHundred @createstreets It's a legal process... application of the Town & Country Planning Act... it requires skills of assesment for harm within the built environment which Planning Officers do.

@TourGuideLiverp @createstreets Why do you need a planning officer to send a letter telling people to change their signs? Just get an employee you already have to do it. Should take an afternoon, if that.
