@matinyarare @WillarShoko "When arrests happen they are usually orchestrated by politicians to eliminate competitors so they can maintain a monopoly..." This contradicts what was said in the preceding paragraph tt the main goal is to pacify the masses. If that's the goal, you don't care abt competition.

𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗥𝗨𝗚 𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗭𝗜𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗕𝗪𝗘? Two weeks ago I wrote the article below about how I’ve been using hidden and regular cameras to record police officers, detectives, dealers, and runners, exposing who controls the drug industry in Zimbabwe. I wrote about how I had followed the drug, gold, and arms trails all the way to Kanyemba. Then, just a few days ago, an audio recording surfaced naming some prominent people involved in drug dealing. What I can say is this: I am not yet prepared to divulge names as we are still determining whether we can release what we have recorded without endangering people’s lives. But our investigations have confirmed that the biggest drug kingpins the runners, dealers, and detectives work for are high-ranking politicians, their children, and some of the richest people in the country. All these people who were implicated have been very vocal about fighting drugs, yet they are the ones pushing drugs to the youth. When we asked why these elites sell drugs to the youth, the answer was shocking. Yes, money is a huge motive but the most important is to pacify the unemployed youth to ensure that they never rise to revolt against the government because they constitute a huge threat. Meditate on that for a moment, and then ask yourself who stands to benefit from this pacification? CAB3sters? When arrests happen they are usually orchestrated by politicians to eliminate competitors so they can maintain a monopoly. The politicians control the police to arrest their rivals and also to move their drugs. Drugs are brought into Zimbabwe through imported vehicles, with the drugs stashed in body panels and tires. When they get to Harare, the cars are disassembled, the drugs are removed, and the cars are resold or other. Some come in via trucks and even planes. The madam I said organizes women for the who’s who of Zimbabwe, is also heavily involved in drugs. When I bought a stand in Arlington, everyone knew of two big ZANU PF — what can I say— members, living in that complex who are renowned for dealing drugs. Ultimately, Zimbabwe has a very vibrant drug market, ranging from cocaine, ecstasy, molly, methamphetamine, mariguana to bronco. In conclusion: even if we released the names and information, what is the point because it’s not like Zimbabweans will do anything about it. All it will be is gossip for a few days and then we are back to normal. So why even waste time divulging to such a bunch of passive people? And lastly: common sense should make you ask why drug use has increased under the Second Republic?

𝗭𝗜𝗠 𝗗𝗥𝗨𝗚 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗬. In the same way that I was approached by government officials to produce a documentary on our liberation shrines in Mozambique, I was also approached by a group of politicians, police officers, and intelligence officers to conduct an exposé on drug dealing in Zimbabwe. Since then, I have used both normal and hidden cameras to gather testimonies from detectives, police officers, immigration officials, sex workers, drug dealers, runners, and ordinary citizens. They have provided information, both on and off camera, about those who are bringing drugs into the country hidden in body panels of imported cars, those allowing them to pass through the border, the panel shops that recover the drugs, the runner running them, and the alleged kingpins within leadership structures. I have even been taken to film drug dens, deliveries and pick ups from some of the most surprising addresses in Harare. What has emerged is that various political and business figures are involved in feeding drugs into communities, in order to pacify resistance. The drug crisis in Zimbabwe has been engineered to make unemployed youth more controllable and less politically active, so that they do not protest against the government. The arrests are just elimination of competition by the politicians. These engagements have also revealed so-called “black and white gold” smuggling routes. The black route involves actors within the Ministry of Mines and the judiciary who allegedly manipulate and legalise the theft of mining claims from established mining companies on behalf of politically connected individuals. Then there is also a group of machete-wielding enforcers, sometimes referred to as “Al Shabaab,” who intimidate, assault, and in some cases kill people in the process of forcibly taking over smaller mines. Once these mines are seized, they are incorporated into a bigger network controlled by a small number of elites with exclusive rights to buy gold from artisanal and small-scale miners. The gold is then exported for smelting in Dubai without paying royalties. Some mines even employ slaves who are paid food parcels. The white route is described as a parallel network involving white farmers, Chinese, and other business actors who allegedly mine without licences on farms and even registered mining claims. The gold is then reportedly flown out of the country through Charles Prince Airport and exported without payment of taxes or royalties. Some is also moved through Kanyemba (see image below) and the upper Zambezi into Zambia by boat, destined for international markets. As a result, it is claimed that Zimbabwe has significant volumes of wealth held in offshore tax havens, second only to Dubai and Afghanistan. According to a cabinet member, some individuals and companies are able to move as much as US$30 million worth of gold per month. Facilitating this process, the Minister of Agriculture, Masuka, is alleged to have assisted certain white farmers, particularly in Nyabira, in the removal of black resettled farmers and war veterans from their land, enabling control over farms where gold is extracted and transported. There is also trafficking of weapons entering Zimbabwe from Kanyemba and along the Zambezi corridor. It is not yet clear what these are used for. Additionally, there is trafficking of migrants from Somalia and Ethiopia through Zimbabwe into South Africa, at an estimated cost of around R160,000 (US$10,000) per person to be delivered to Johannesburg. All of this is said to be controlled by a small number of well-connected individuals whose identities are known and documented in the film. I have tried to edit this documentary to show the findings without exposing the people who provide the information but it’s proving difficult. However, as a nation in crisis, it is necessary that we ask whether we have the right people in positions of leadership.

@bla_bidza there is actually a culture of simply throwing/dumping litter everywhere, in Zim, even from moving vehicles. this is made worse because no money is invested in providing refuse bins, refuse collection is haphazard. you will not find a free pubic toilet in a city like Harare. Sad

Yesterday in Harare’s city centre, I watched a vendor finish the last sip of his drink and casually throw the plastic bottle onto the pavement right in front of me. To his surprise, and that of the other vendors nearby, I picked it up and told him to dispose of it properly in a bin. I then walked through several streets searching for a rubbish bin to throw it away, but I could not find a single one. Mayor @JMafume, the city urgently needs more bins along the pavements, and they must be emptied regularly throughout the day. Clean cities are built through both public responsibility and proper municipal infrastructure.

Last night I was driving on the Bulawayo Road from Redcliff at around 12:50 a.m. I was travelling at about 90 km/h and the road was clear. As I was approaching Whitehouse, just after Meru Service Station, I noticed two men standing on one side of the road and another two on the opposite side. They were all wearing black pants. Suddenly, one of them threw an object at my car. It sounded like a tyre burst coming from behind. I was shocked because I was driving alone. I slowed down slightly but did not stop, and I switched off the radio to listen carefully. In my rear-view mirror, I saw two of the men running towards my car. I stayed calm and continued driving at a lower speed. About 50 metres ahead, two other men were pretending to cross the road slowly, likely to force me to slow down further. I became more alert and hooted at them, but they did not move. They then threw another object under my vehicle. Shortly after, my car started making unusual noises. I slowed down even more but kept moving because I did not want to stop in an unsafe situation. Another object was thrown and luckily it hit my rear spare wheel instead of the rear window. At that point, I realised this could be an attempted robbery or attack. I slowly continued driving while assessing the situation, then eventually pulled over in a safer spot and stopped. As I stopped, about three of them ran towards my car. I then fired warning shots into the air, and they immediately scattered. So please be careful when driving at night. Do not stop in isolated or suspicious places, especially when you notice unusual activity on the road. Criminals are active during late hours. Today I noticed that my car only has minor damage on the front bumper underneath. Fortunately, the damage is not serious and should be easy to fix. @PoliceZimbabwe

Many years ago, my friend and I were unemployed and hustling in Harare. We were tired of it, so we decided to try temporary teaching jobs. One day, we went to a district office where they were hiring. The place was packed with people. The education officer announced that they only had a few positions, mostly at primary schools teaching kindergarten and Grade 1. Selection was based on qualifications. When he called for candidates with Master’s degrees or higher, I was shocked. Many people started pushing and shoving to get to the front, waving their certificates. My friend, who actually had a Master’s, had left his certificate at home. He didn’t think he would need it. By the time he realized, all the positions were taken by those who had brought their documents. It was sad to see so many well-educated people from different fields fighting over just a few temporary teaching posts. 😔

To be clear: They want us to believe that the president is unknowingly walking into rooms & having discussions with people wanted by his own government. Read that again. Dont they have no means to ensure that the president is not in the presence of people who could harm him or compromise his government? This is not complex. In today's volatile security environment, company CEOs have this level of protection. Either the president’s protocol, state, or personal security & intelligence teams are grossly inept. Or they are taking the country for fools. I vote for the latter.

The Justice Uchena Commission of Inquiry into the Matter of Sale of State Land in and Around Urban Areas Since 2005 summary presentation has been released and its findings are shocking! The report is yet to be released after a court ordered its immediate release. The summary presentation says the Zimbabwean State lost almost US$3 billion through unpaid intrinsic land value, with the exact prejudice put at US$2,977,072,819 according to the report. The twenty two page summary also says many people were settled on urban state land without basic services like clean water, sewer systems and roads. Some houses were built on wetlands, under power lines, over sewer lines, and on land meant for schools, clinics and public facilities. The summary also points to political abuse, land barons, illegal sales of state land, weak government controls, poor record keeping, undervaluation of land, corruption, and politically connected individuals using names of top ruling party leaders to influence government processes. Another major hazardous issue is the public health risk. Pit latrines were built close to water sources, creating a danger of underground water pollution and outbreaks of cholera and typhoid. The summary shows massive corruption, political interference, institutional failure, illegal land sales, poor urban planning, and a huge financial loss to the State and people of Zimbabwe. It took a High Court application and years of pressure before President Emmerson Mnangagwa was ordered to release the Uchena Report into the looting of state land. It is yet to be released. The fact that citizens had to go to court to force the publication of a report commissioned by the President himself says everything about how politically sensitive the findings were. Please find the twenty two page summary via my Telegram link👉🏿 t.me/informationhub…

Bankers, economists, help me understand this in the Zimbabwean context. When you go to a bank for a loan, you are charged more than 20 percent interest per year. But when you keep your money in the same bank, they give you less than 5 percent per year. The difference is just too big. In Zimbabwe, where prices keep going up and bank charges are high, your money actually loses value in the bank. By the time you account for fees and inflation, you are worse off than when you started. So why would anyone keep their money in the bank? It ends up feeling like you are being punished for saving. And if people stop saving through banks, what happens to the whole system? @admire_dube @tmukogo @baba_nyenyedzi @rufarogz @andrea_hoxbucks @SMRI_Institute @kudzie_sharara @brains_muchemwa @percyconsult
