When @eric6liu and I started Ditto after dropping out of Berkeley, we wanted to answer one simple question: how do we help people connect more easily? It was obvious to us that our kids won’t be endless swiping on Tinder or manually searching for people on LinkedIn We believe that there should be a more automatic and effortless way for people to find each other, and to be found Inspired by Joon Sung Park's agent simulation town paper in 2023, we decided to build something that brings the Black Mirror dating experience into real life We started with something super simple: there’s an AI in your iMessage. You tell it your dating preferences (like “6’2 hot nerd who brings flowers” or “rave abg with tattoos & an A+ in CS”) It analyzes your entire school, simulate the dates, finds the match, sets the location and time & send it to you every Wednesday 7pm. All you have to do is show up This thing quickly took over UCSD and went viral in sorority group chats, with sisters sharing how hot (or chopped) their dates were Before we knew it, our beta test turned into a platform with 42,000+ users across 5 UCs This year, we are bringing @Ditto__AI to every US college, and hosting 10 yacht blind date parties nationwide It's only up from here, and let's build something generational!
