Uber CTO wasn’t kidding when he said they ran through annual token budget this month.
Their engineers went back to acoustic coding

I’m in a dilemma please help, would you live somewhere where it’s super convenient, comfortable, cheaper, but less opportunities and less friends. OR pretty inconvenient but manageable, close friends, tons of opportunities, VERY expensive.
Choice 1 for me is also more of a lock in mindset, whereas I’m a little scared with choice 2 because I get distracted easily.

Rented a place in St Pete for 3 months thinking the beach proximity would be worth it.
Tried 4 gyms while I was there. The swanky country club, the hardcore bodybuilding gym, the YMCA, the Crunch. Different price points, same uninspiring energy. My girl noticed the same thing at her yoga and Pilates studios.
Paid out the remainder of the lease to leave early because it wasn’t just the gyms. That energy was everywhere.
Sometimes you optimize for time and energy over money. This was one of those times.
The people in Tampa are more ambitious, more put together, more alive, less insecure.
St Pete has Reddit vibes. And I mean that in the least charitable way possible.
On environment: it doesn’t break you dramatically. It chips away quietly. Your ambition. Your sense of what’s possible. All of it erodes slowly enough that you don’t notice until you’re already a different person.
Easier to stay, justify it, perhaps even quietly lowering standards to match…
The guys I respect identify the misalignment, make the call, and move.
Worth asking where else that misalignment exists in your life.
Maybe your career, your relationships, or your health and how you look in the mirror.
Every month you wait is a month you’re paying for in a different way.

Today, @tryprofound is excited to announce our $96M Series C at a $1B valuation, led by @lightspeedvp with participation from @sequoia, @kleinerperkins, @mattevantic, @saga_ventures and @southpkcommons.
When we started Profound 18 months ago, we had two fundamental beliefs about where marketing is heading:
1. Every company will care deeply about how AI talks about their brand.
2. Every marketer will use AI Agents to do their best work, faster.
Those beliefs are becoming reality faster than we imagined.
Now, we serve more than 10% of the Fortune 500 and are the number 1 leader on the G2 grid for AEO.
To double down on that momentum, we’re taking two big swings:
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: AI workers that take marketing teams from concept to execution.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆: certifications and cohort-based learning for marketers who want stay at the forefront of AI marketing.

Many junior product engineers would immensely benefit from being able to take a step back from the immediate task at hand and think about what capabilities they could unlock in the future if they decided to tackle the task in a slightly different way. Great video.

The lack of "feature design" is why so many products over time feel hollow or messy. This isn't visual design. This isn't architectural design. I thought that a short video lecture of what feature design is and a real case study of applying it in Ghostty would be helpful. Feature design is the planning step behind how you're going to solve one or more user problems with a product feature: what that feature looks like, how it feels, and not just how its going to tactically solve these specific problems, but how that solution is going to interface with the edges of other features that currently exist or are planned to exist in the future.

Awesome start to the week: today we welcome @joeydotdev as the newest team member at Profound!
Joey joins us as a Software Engineer in our newly opened San Francisco office as the first hire there. He comes to us from @uber, where he was a core contributor to the UberEats web application across both the UberEats.com desktop experience and the embedded web views within the Rider app.
I met Joey back in 2022 in Phabricator, Uber's code review tool, when he would approve my PRs updating the iconic Uber haversine arc line between pickup and dropoff points in the delivery maps. Talk about a great place to meet someone.
We are incredibly excited to have Joey here at Profound! In just his first week, he has already made a tremendous impact by helping us modernize our observability and logging stack and improve our authentication services.
