@CliffordAsness One of biggest mistakes in my youthful naivety was to support Obamacare. The opponents were correct in demonizing it. It is socialism of the worst kind and we are all paying the price for its corruption. We need to unwind the whole thing.

@mcuban I do agree here. The key is true privatization and not create quasi-public companies like USPS or UHC. We need to just truly privatize with competition. Let the bad actors die in the marketplace.

The big lie of “gov sucks at everything “ , is that they suck the most at enforcing performance and costs. You know what’s worse than the gov running a service? Private companies knowing that the gov entities they contract with can’t do shit to stop them from fucking up everything and making a fortune. I’m not saying this applies to every private company. Many do have ethics. Not all. And as an entrepreneur, it’s embarrassing to us all. Need proof ? Look at the Noem ad contract. Look at healthcare. Taxpayers provide 70pct or more of the revenue of the largest insurance companies. Those same insurance companies get fined and found liable for ripping off taxpayers, again and again and again. And they still get to do business with the gov, knowing they can effectively steal money from us all. The fines are a nuisance. And this is healthcare. When they lie, people die. Maybe when we are smart enough to pass laws saying that gov contractors get one mulligan. Two fines from any government entity and you are blacklisted from Gov contracts at the state and federal level for 10 years. That’s when things will change Until then the concept of privatization of gov services like the tsa or post office or .. is just a license for a private company to abuse taxpayers and face next to no consequences.
depressivehacks@depressivehacks

Mark, why do you think government intervention into the free market is the answer here over an economic solution? I would argue that there is too much government intervention in healthcare and insurance, which has led to a lot of the costs being driven up in the first place. The fact is that if there was a more direct relationship between customers and cost, prices would decrease. Nobody is paying six figures out of pocket for their medical expenses. The only reason those expenses remain so high is that insurance companies boost the market rate and inflate costs. Certainly, I am not advocating for people to not receive essential care that they need to survive, but from a market philosophy perspective, I can't see how more government intervention leads to anything but exacerbation of the outcomes that they themselves have gotten us into to begin with.

I wish you’d post more along these lines. There are millions in America that would be persuaded if the message was merit, excellence and integrity as the standard for *all*. You keep fighting the most extreme loons on the left but they are a numerical minority. Focus on winning the center.

@christopherrufo Agreed. Need a healthy balance here. Lots of bad anti-white and anti-male stuff caused and is causing issues. We have to fight it. Hard. But others have had worse. And - Victimhood mentality is for losers. Can take these things too far in ways that are unhelpful.

I've done as much as anyone to stop anti-white discrimination in America's institutions, but you have to be brain-damaged to believe that "white men are the most oppressed group in history." This is a leftist attitude, and almost certainly a projection of personal failure, frustration, or resentment onto the Jews or the social tableau. Yes, you should absolutely fight to reduce anti-white discrimination, but if you believe "100% of your problems are external," you're being dishonest with yourself and repressing massive inferiority feelings, which almost certainly have nothing to do with the war in Iran or AIPAC or whatever you think is "holding the white man down." It's leftist thinking. A victimhood fetish. Your pioneer ancestors would laugh at you for whining that you're "the most oppressed man in history" because of Pam in HR.
hoe_math = PsychoMath@ItIsHoeMath

White men are very easily the most oppressed group in history. Nearly 100% of our problems are external, in the system. But no one's going to solve them for you. You have to solve them yourself, which means we have to solve them together. This rat is trying to tell you that you have problems because you are personally deficient. That's probably not true. The average White guy is more competent than the top 20% of any other group except maybe East Asians. But even that doesn't matter, because the top 2% of white guys are more competent than 100% of everyone else put together. It does not matter how many retards you put to work designing a rocket, it's never going to fly. The exclusion of white men from opportunity is the vast majority of the problem. It's not that there are no stupid white guys. About 14% of them are. It's not that there are no white guys with problems. Everybody has flaws. It's that we were always that way, and we were doing thousands of times better than everyone else before somebody snuck into our government and changed all the rules to make sure that we get nothing in our own countries. No one's going to solve that but us, and us includes you. So it's not your fault that things are so bad, but it is your responsibility.

@stevemur @DefiantLs He like most people miss the point. All taxes are a drag. The issue isn’t to create a tax system with a better net but to dismantle most of it and unleash the people.

@DefiantLs Wealth taxes are a disaster because they punish creative effort and the upward force that propels the creation of new and better goods and services. I regret my former support for @AndrewYang.

There is a popular myth that Poland enjoys its economic miracle because it didn’t accept immigrants. In reality, it did let them in, but unlike Western Europe, Poland offers no lavish welfare. Most immigrants work, integrate, and contribute to society. That’s the difference.

NEW: Disney Cruise Line debuted a new ad titled “Midnight Magic” during the Academy Awards on ABC, and it’s a tearjerker. The spot follows a father and son sharing a quiet tradition aboard a Disney ship, a ritual that carries their relationship from childhood into adulthood.

Disney launched a new ad where a dad and son share a night time walk on a cruise ship, across an entire lifetime. Every parent needs to hear this: the moments feel small until they’re gone. Put down the phone. Spend the time. It’s the only thing they’ll remember.

@CorbinSmithNFL Corbin, I’m always defending you but this is a bad take. Flat taxes are regressive & disproportionately effect low/middle income earners. A progressive tax system is not only a necessity, but fair. If you reap more benefits from the system, you should pay more into the system.

I have a really dumb question: Why can't we just have a flat tax rate for every person? And get rid of the stupid deductions, etc? Just have everyone pay the same rate in the U.S.? It would save us from so many damn problems. And all these idiotic arguments.

I suppose one positive about entrepreneurs is that we don’t go down without a fight. I will leave this state if I must, but before I do, expect a knock down, drag out fight. I love it here and I will do my damndest to get the electorate to wake up to the tsunami of destruction their elected officials have just unleashed upon them.
