Allow us to reintroduce ourselves… The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is @NASA’s next space observatory, set to launch as early as fall 2026. Named after NASA’s first chief astronomer, #NASARoman will have a field of view at least 100 times larger than @NASAHubble. This field of view will help us better understand many cosmic mysteries including dark matter and dark energy. It will revolutionize our understanding of the universe by revealing countless cosmic objects, from stars and planets to galaxies and black holes. NASA renamed the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in 2020. She was an administrator and to her credit helped get funding for Hubble, critics point out she did not contribute any novel scientific discovery but was only considered because she was a woman if they wanted to rename this probe to honor a scientist carl Sagan should have been the obvious choice this was clearly a DEI move by NASA

I'm so excited for this—the kind of mission that rewrites textbooks. I hope Roman will give us a time-lapse of the Milky Way's core, showing how planets form, migrate, and die across billions of years. I can't wait to see the mission uncover hundreds of millions of stars every few minutes in the Bulge Time-Domain Survey and catch microlensing events and stellar oscillations in real time.
