A small win to celebrate 🎉 Docsium.com just hit $833 MRR, a small project I bought last year for $7k. The growth purely relies on its listing on Google Workspace Marketplace, with nearly no maintenance effort.

@C_F_Adams @sivers I know nothing about this world so, is a GCloud bucket similar to GDrive folder? In that, I store the necessary files there (html, images, etc), and just point the domain at it?

What's the best way to host a simple static website?

@cfowlerdesign @sivers Great way forward for many reasons. Also if static then simply uploading everything to a Google Cloud storage bucket and pointing your domain to it is pretty cost effective and low admin.

@PaulMainwood As of ~2017 IIRC there was public data crudely mapping trusts to statistical areas, but not individual sites, and not reflecting the real activity flows.

@PaulMainwood When doing this before I’ve used trust data obtained via FOI request with activity per hospital site per LSOA, then weighting each LSOA’s metrics for any given site by the % of activity in each LSOA served by that site & LSOA population, given frequent overlap in catchments.

NHS and health analytical people. If you had a list of hospital names and wanted to map that to index of multiple deprivation for their served area (specifically ambulance catchment area), where would you find that? (Or equivalently, a mapping from hospitals to served LSOA areas)

Real estate in the metaverse will not be a thing. Real estate is valuable because there is a non-zero cost to move from point A to point B in the real world. There is no such cost in a digital world, negating all value of the analogous concept.

@cpaik @tszzl I think it pretty plainly does. Active digital travel always requires work by the user in both 2D and 3D. Proximity means fewer clicks/scrolls/menus/portals/whatever UX you choose. …and that’s assuming the user knows where to go: yet more work which proximity can avoid.

@C_F_Adams @tszzl Proximity linearly reduces work in the real world. It does no such thing in the digital world.

@cpaik @tszzl Proximity and attention are two sides of the same exchange, which gives value to both physical and virtual reality estate. Travel in the metaverse isn’t zero-cost. UX for instant travel is usually a context switch to abstraction and breaks psychological presence.
